Why do think Twitter is popular?

I think twitter is pretty cool concept, but it's a very simple idea.
I can imagine if they are kind of popular but not this big.
For some reasons I think they got big because of Oprah and Ashton Kutcher.

What do you think?

 

I think its dying. I don't think its very cool.

look twitter is a light weight thing (compared to facebook etc.)
where people can communicate with friends and other simply and easily
oprah and ashton certainly helped it go viral
but they were already growing before that

 

Its best services make it popular.

 

It's all about Twitter search. Nothing beats real time search. Google tries to compete -> but fails

 

I think that now twitter is less popular than last 1-2 years. Maybe the reason is the rise of FaceBook, almost all of my friends have FB account, and I don't know some of them to have twitter account.

 

Twitter is an excellent marketing tool. This is why it's so popular. It can't fail; at least, not soon. As long as it keeps geo-location out of it, it's an excellent solution to increase traffic. With Twitter, personal/private networking has become obsolete, while real-time business communication has taken its place.

 

As twitter is instantaneous and quick - this contributes largely to popularity

 

I don't think so that twitter is much popular as comparision with the Facebook. I accept that the twitter concept is unique as giving just 140 words to represent you as beautiful as you can but They are decreasing their popularity due to spamming spreading over there.

In my opinion the Facebook is much popular than the twitter and provides more features and functionality then twitter.

 

I think that Twitter is so popular because of itsa mobile version, because more and more people nowadays can't imagine their life without cell phones. It is very convenient to use Twitter on my mobile phone as well.

 

I think since their is no limitation expect word count, its popular. Also, It is really good tool for business owners so they are using it.

 

I think its popular because it was the first social networking/bookmark that celebrities use. Like Youtube is popular too because you can nearly find videos in vast amounts of topics...now ustream is getting really popular because celebrities use it to talk to their fans live. I give ustream another 2 years tops and its going to blow like twitter and youtube.

 

There is huge amount of reasons why it's so popular!
Ex: it allows me easily stay in touch with my friends who are far way from me not abusing them with chatting or emailing. twitter is a great tool for such purpose.

 

Facebook and Twitter was created by CIA.. for routing all the information...personal >> facebook public>>twitter. Both site's rise to popularity was designed not just happened...Twitter and facebook if they go down, no one will be effected ..both are crap sites with no benefit to users after a week.

I think sites like digital point do more good to end users than social networks

 

The Idea behind twitter was to make an application which moves with you, more like mobile communication and SMS...so people loved it..I mean sms were there but you cant sms to celebrities or online friends but with twitter you can read celebrities updates on the move.

I love twitter because it puts me in contact with people that like the same stuff as i do, and it is brutal, honest and directly

 

Celebrities is the answer. And rich people.
