OpenCart is another. It's best to test out a few different ones as what works for one person may not work for you. It's obviously time-consuming to test several but hopefully it will pay off for you.
I use Zen Cart. It's a SOB to learn, but it's extremely powerful and when you "get it" it's very easy. You can customize it in anyway, and it's got tons of plugins for just about anything. And they are always updating it, and all that.
You should look into a total online business platform such as Haiku Online Business which handles shopping cart, website, customer database and marketing features. It’s a hosted solution so you don’t have to worry about the technical stuff either. All the other bases are also integrated, such as the payment gateways, shipping modules etc., and you can even give your customers coupons and vouchers. It’s an all in one solution so you don’t need to juggle multiple systems.

As someone who is relatively new to eCommerce, I can tell you that Magento is the best, but that it is very intensive. If your aim is for simplicity, I would instead go with the major WP shopping cart plug in. It really depends on a handful of things: the payment processors that you would like to use, whether you market to offline customers and need a pretty store front, and how much time you want to spend learning.
Thank you all for your feedback, i have decided to o with Zen Cart and have someone implementing it for me. What i would like to know now is where i can find some free premium looking themes/skins. Nothing too plain or boxy, something very unique. Thanks
