I work for an SEO company and we handle both on-page SEO and off-page SEO for our clients. Just because your wordpress theme doesn't allow it, we could still install some plugins for you which would replace anything the theme has overwritten. Off-page SEO is far more important than the on-page work. That would be the majority of the process. If you want people to search your name and find your site, you have to build backlinks with your name as the anchor text.
A plugin you should get is All in one seo. It helps with on page optimization I believe but as Swiftly said, off page is much more important that on page.
For doing SEO of your personal blog! you should plan for which keywords you are looking to target your personal blog to driver traffic from SEO! then start working on it
If you want your blog to appear for your name that should be pretty easy (I wouldn't imagine your name would be a competitive keyword, unless your name was brad pit or something). Some basic seo stuff should get you in google pretty easy. Read the forum for the best seo techniques available.
Download SEO plugins, All In One SEO is the standard used by most bloggers. Then and more importantly go and get yourself some backlinks with the keyword in the anchor text. As said above, a few links and a little patience should get you there unless your personal blog is devoted to acai berry er somethin
You can do off page link building using your keywords build link by directory submission, forum posting, article submission, social bookmark, reciprocal link exchange
Change the title of your bog's homepage to 'Your Name' and start building backlinks for that keyword. You'd see results very soon!
Fully agree. Use All-in-one-SEO and perform some optimization of your posts Change titles, descriptions, meta-tags, etc.) But off-page SEO is what your really rank for.
