Other ways of supporting us is acknowledging the fact that we are a banner ad-supported website. What do you think guys? Is it a violation if I put something like that? Just wondering because i saw some sites display those kind of stuff alongside their google ads. kinda misleading cause its not asking directly the visitors to click.
when i had an image hosting site, i wanted to use "ad-financed image hosting" phrase, and asked google about it. they said it's not allowed. rapidshare.de (very big file hosting service) was using "ad-financed file hosting" phrase along with adsense, so i asked google "how come they can use and i can't?". after a few days rapidshare.de removed the phrase too.
Well, aside from the bad grammar, the Program Policies state: Is that phrase providing a direct incentive to click on the ads? No. But is it implying an indirect incentive, that the site remains there because they are supported by users clicking on the ads, thus implying that if you like the site you ought to click on ads as well? Yes. Therefore, I'd be willing to bet Google wouldn't be too keen on the phrase. Ironically, the phrase itself is kind of amusing... they would take as "support" the fact that one "acknowledges" that they are a banner-ad supported site? haha.
