as I had recently moved away from my cousin, now its time for me to get a new PC or Laptop, I didn't knew which to fall back on basically what I need would be : A system that would run 12 - 16hrs a day with power cuts, voltage fluctuations. I am planning to give my Stabilizer 300v to my system to control this voltage mess. I am planning to go for 1gb ram on a pc or a 4gb ram on laptop I had seen a plan of Acer, it was well with in my budget around US$550 - $600, it came up with 3 r 4gb ram if my memory serves rite need some suggestions guyz in my picking my first system on my earnings
If you are gonna use it for 16 hours then better buy a PC as its more reliable. And you can even get 2 or 4 GB RAM at low price.
I'd go for the PC myself, simply because if you are running it for that length of time every day then chances are one of the components will fail eventually and it's a lot easier to replace in a PC than a laptop.
thanks guys for the suggestions I will go with PC then @jauhis: In pc too we can get more space it depends on what box we place it, I earlier had a pc with 160gb space - since its been a long while since I really owned a pc I wanted to get to know with the current technology that would take up heavier loads. I got a simple question up again : Do u want me to go with Xp r Windows 7 ? I am planning a 80gb hdd on a custom (assembled, as I get to choose the best ones ) I have always used xp since the week it released and didn't like Vista, haven't browsed in W7 so go not clue how nice it is r freaky it is
Both PC and Laptop are the best its place PC can be maintain cheapest and laptop gives you battery time its according to your use if you are a professional then buy laptop and if you are buying for domestic use buy PC.
I can only say what I did and after researching extensively on Windows 7 it boiled down to one question - did I really want to pay the huuuuuuge markup Microsoft were asking so I could run XP software with W7? The answer was 'no' - a 'gfy' to M$. Windows 7 Home is retailing at around £70 where I live and Windows 7 Professional (required to run XP software) is retailing at around £150. So double the price to run software that already works perfectly well on an OS that runs perfectly well? Nah, don't think so. Bit of a pain finding XP retail nowadays mind you but it's still out there if you look. btw, why are you going for an 80gb HDD? You can pick up 500Gb HDD for about £30 (where I live obviously) and 1Tb HDD for about £50.
I'd say go with a PC. However if your going to want to do things on the go you have no choice but to go for a quality laptop.
thanks for the input mate, ya I can get XP pretty easily around my location and your reply just made me stick to XP about the hdd, I don't plan to use high space, if I use around 30 - 50gb that would be a certain rarity, so I think 80gb hdd would be far more than enough. I might get more hdd in case if needed in future once again thanks for the input guys
guyz, I just went into another dilemma flat screen or regular screen ? which do u prefer for me would be better. The space is not an issue so I would love to get feedback and possible reasons for your suggestions to make an effect on me
Flat screen is LCD, the regular is the old screen type I don't know what we call that (in tech. terms), the old monitor mode.
thanks Sophia now, I got another issue guyz, need an Processor selection I had 3 processors given as an option by the vendor, I short listed it to 2: Intel Atom Desktop Board or Intel Dual Core 2.7 now which one to select and why ? Atom is 2.6k lesser than the dual core
You should buy a Laptop. Now a days, laptop have so many advantages. It comes with proper configuration mainly Bluetooth and WiFi.The main advantage is you can take it anywhere.
well i think that u should go for a pc because a laptop cannot be upgraded. If You are a PC gaming geek than you need to upgrade your Graphics Card time by time ...With a PC its possible but not with a laptop. Think about it.
thanks for the suggestion will go for Dual Core @love and itschloe - thanks for ur inputs, I already made an decision to buy an PC.
