In my opinion, I think backlinks from reputable article directories like Ezine and GoArticles are best. Also, niche related backlinks are also great if you are anxious about relevancy.

All of them have its own importance. But the links from quality websites i.e. high PR, niche are best. But, it can be beneficial only when it is crawled by Google. So try to build links by different channels and try that it is crawled by SE.

 

Any type of link from High page rank page will be good, I dont think any type of links is better than the other one. Just think about the quality of the link, not the type.

All back links are good....But google keeps on changing importance in their ranking process...Directory links are gone now...Profile links are on the top these days....

Go for it with some high PR sites..and see the effect..

.edu and .gov are really a higher quality than most of the other sites ,so if you have a link on those types of websites, those extensions, normally the search engines will be interested in ranking you higher .
Age of your website is important the older the website they are normally seen as being high quality

A bad backlink would be one that comes from a website what are known as link farms is just a place where just everybody
goes and puts their link there ( except DMOZ for example )

PR if you can get a link from a high page rank site, really that page rank is an indication of the authority for search engine
Google love articles directory like Ezinearticles and hubpages , squidoo .

Profile Backlinks are the best out of the ones you listed; but let me assure you that for any kind of backlinking campaign to work, you'll need to vary your sources/platforms, so commenting on different forms of blogs, forums, submitting to different article directories, utilizing social bookmarking, etc.

 

I have seen many websites rank at the top with forum profiles so I believe they are more valuable.

 

Try to get .EDU & .GOV backlinks.

 

Backlinks from age domain (with Authority + PR + Related Content.) Profile backlinks are also important too!

I think, it is best to use inlink backlink from blog posts...it gives natural and good results. it forces robots to cache and index your link in limited time period.

 

Like stated, .EDU and .GOV backlinks can be very, very powerful. However, spending your time focusing on these links might prove to just be a waste and poor time management on your part. Rather, I would outsource article marketing to an SEO company. I actually work for an SEO company and we expanded to digital point to offer our services here on the forums. We're planning to introduce one of our packages very soon but these won't be .edu or .gov backlinks. They would be .com backlinks from high PR pages, which we have proven to be just as effective in large numbers.
