Adsense will ask to prove ownership of site.
How did your friend do that?

But Adsense does ask for the ownership of your site. How is this possible?

If they didn't ask for ownership where is the problem ?
Use domain cnn.com to sign with your account.
    They don't have adsense account.

But seriously, if it is a true story check the domain whois to make sure it is your address as the owner.
Sent the explanaton letter to adsense. sign to google webmasters and verify your domain.
If you have no response put your name and domain and ask why it is possible on google forum, any google forum you will find .

    They never ask.
You can mail them. And explain that this is your site. Prove it to them by placing the meta tags or html that they ask you to. Or if it is already added to your Google Webmaster account.

Your friend's Adsense will probably get banned when you do this.

Try with your own domain, if they ask for ownership, just prove that it's your domain.

I don't think there will be a problem if you try to register with that same domain.

Open a new site or a new blogspot blog and write about 15 posts.

    Hmm..

Just email Google and wait for the reply.
Prove with screenshots and use useful codes to prove your site that google provides.

Just add your site to webmaster on the account you want adsense.

Then go on help/drop a ticket.

I always thought they checked the domain name ownership. Wow, isn't it easy to cheat Google?

They never ask, I suggest you contact the adsense support team to have it fixed.

    or

You can steal his account or recover the account as its legally yours as its your domain name.

If you don't want your friend to loose his AdSense account then you ll need a new site and wait for 4-5 months till it get old. If you complain now then you will get your account probably but they will ban your friend that's for sure.
