Hey DP, I have found a niche that I think I can the number 1 spot on google. I would like to valued input of this community before I proceed. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Here are the top ten competitors for my keyword: A broad search for the keyword yields 229 000 results An Exact phrase search yields 17 100 The allintitle search for the keyword yields 863 results The allinanchor search for the keyword yields 13 300 results (only a few are an exact match) None of the competitors have the key words in their domain name. The keyword domain is till available for some tlds. Only the top competitor has 39 anchor links that match the keyword. The rest don't have any anchor links matching the keyword. My only worry is the age of the domains that the competitors own and maybe the page rank. My thought is if I have my keyword as my domain name and get precise and quality backlinks (like 500 or so over the next 6 months) for the keyword and quality regularly updated content relating to my keyword then I would be able to dominate (#1 position) in 6 months time. Can anyone give me some advice? is this possible?
If the competitor does not have the keyword in the domain name then yes, it's possible. I've beating a PR4 with just several PR1 sites. Note however that your main competitors have entries in DMOZ and Yahoo - try to get them also, those are heavyweights and it will save you a lot of work.
Exact match domains are pretty powerful these days. I would say expect to work pretty hard for a few month, but then you should be able to get up in the running. I would also double check the estimated traffic for that keyword in other keyword (non-Google) tools.
MS is showing 1627 searches a day with 100% PTB match, which is more than enough for what I plan to do. It seems to be a keyword phrase that has been overlooked by the competitors yet is getting high searches with google according to google. Should I believe MS and google above all else? No one even buys adwords that have this keyword in the title!
Yea if you get a proper domain name and optimize your site well then it seems possible. It will be hard work though. Just don't give up when you're stuck in the same spot.
My plan is just to add about 15 links a day for about 6 months, add new content every month, register with all the directories needed and get the correct domain. I plan to throw in about 10 Edu links for good measure. I think if I'm persistent for 6 months then it should work.
Hi there, You can dominate any niche you want. This one seems quite tough do the competition. You can still dominate it by registering a domain exactly as your keyword. Then article marketing and some backlinking.Thats enough for you to be on #1. Simu

So i'm about to register the exact keyword as my domain name. The domain I'm buying is 4 years old and clean. I plan on using the keyword in the title, meta ketwords, meta description, Have an h1 as the keyword in the content and have about 5% keywords in the content as well as some bold keywords. I will create the site in such a way that it doesn't appear to bespammy but still has alot of keyword power with good content and good design. I will register with yahoo and dmoz. Then I will start getting high PR backlinks at a steady and slow rate as well as do some article marketing every two weeks or so. Now I plan to keep on doing this for about 6 months. This should be enough for number one?
Nice copy and paste there..... nothing like adding value to a thread.... Anyway, it looks like you have every chance of beating the top spot there.... exact match domains are OVERRATED somewhat; granted, they may get a boost right now,but mark my words this will change within a year so dont focus all your efforts on it. Get the domain, give it half a year and see what happens.... If it does well, expand it, launch a new site about it (not a exact match domain) and then compare the results... its the only way to be sure
Sounds like a winner. Go for it, with this plan you should rank #1 pretty quickly. Try variations of the keyword also, to target the long tail.
This keyword is easy as hell. You can rank for it within 2-4 weeks with just a little directory submission or Blog Commenting
Ok.. site up and running... busy with a few blog comments now and registration at all the necessary directories. will keep this thread updated as to progress.
