What Is A Google Dance?

The name "Google Dance" is often used to describe the index update of the Google search engine. Google's index update occurs on average once per month. It can be identified by significant movement in search results and especially by Google's cache of all indexed pages reflecting the status of Google's last spidering. But the update does not proceed as a switch from one index to another at one point in time. In fact, it takes several days to complete the index update. During this period, the old and the new index alternate on Google. At an early stage, the results from the new index occur sporadically. But later on, they appear more frequently

    Hi,

Thanks for your nice information. This is another definition from Internet - It's the period when Google is rebuilding its rankings, and results fluctuate widely for a 3 to 5 day period. :)

    all the best,

I think it goes like this...
you put your left foot in,
you put your left foot out,
you put your left foot in,
and you shake it all about...
you do the hokie pokie and you turn yourself around...
    That's what its all about!

PS. I think the google dance hasn't happened in years... I think it's now the "google everflux" (constantly updating).

Google dances always. Sometimes it's tango, sometimes breakdance. If your site is new and don't have good backlinks it can be on 1st page and 6 hours later on 10th.

There was a period a couple years ago when the Google Dance was more prevelant. They seemingly had algo problems and were probably changing their algo and experimenting. Many sites were removed from index for weeks or months. However nowadays the Google Dance is minor. There is always fluctuation of results based on the different datacenters but it's not severe enough to care.
