Review for Dark Forum Theme (Avatar Movie Based)

I recently had a custom theme created, and I am interested to know what peoples first impressions of the theme are. I realize a lot of people are not a fan of dark based themes, but I always felt if the theme is done right it can look incredible. The forum is also based around Jame's Cameron Avatar so a darker theme was more suit.

So what are peoples thoughts on the design?

Edit - I'm also interested to know if anyone has any browser scroll lag? (ie if you scroll down and it's sluggish)

 

Minor scroll lag, but nothing to be really concerned about. Colors are good, images look nice like the background, wish you luck for the topic and site your aiming for.

The theme is nice but won't this forum die out after like 6 months since it's based on a film?

 

Obviously we have thought about this before starting up the forum. Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time and is quite different from other movies. There seems to always be new things to talk about for it. (Such as fanfictions, predictions, etc.) Not to mention there are two planned Avatar sequels and a novel planned for the next few years. So the goal is to be an Avatar based fan site, but if things get slow we will slowly move towards a general movie discussion forum.

Anyway back on subject, does anyone find the theme *too dark*?

So you plan on changing your domain entirely after a couple of years? Also there are many, many other movie discussion forums out there why would they choose yours over them?

 

No the domain won't change. We will just slowly adjust the forum structure and what not to be more of a "general movie structure", with avatar always as a side focus. Either way, that shouldn't be a concern until a year or later.

 

what CMS did you use for build that forum?

 

It's a paid forum software by invisionpower.com. With a custom built theme, images, and a few special modifications.

Your forum is looking good, I think you should select better icons

You have a good eye for color, at least for me. The things don't clash with one another. No scroll lag for me. I like it all in all.
