I assume we all know what RSS-feeds are and that one can submit them to sites on the net. What I do want to investigate is on where to best submit these rss-feeds to gain backlinks for your site. At the moment I just recall feedage.com doing that, but there must be numerous other possibilities to do this on the net.
feedage is definitely not using nofollow tags. And I'm pretty confident that it is worthwhile. Of course I don't know about the others. But there were def. other good ones, too.
In my experience submitting RSS feed to various sites only creates competition to your own content and also raise duplicate content issue. Most of them do not get indexed and the remaining ones do not provide a lot of link juice, and after all their backlinks are mostly no follow. Article submission is much better.
Until know I usually add feeds to new blogs that I create. But freshmanblogs are a poor source of backlinking power. However I hope they'll grow in strenggh over time.
You can submit it to different RSS feed Submission Directories, I would like to refer you for a list, 50-rss-directory-list
You can download rss announcer. I also like using feedlisting.com. I do not like RSS though I tried them for a while and my ranking didn't increase.
The question is whether this really creates back links or is just a ping. IMO feeds should get you the same effect then any other back linking.
As a matter of fact, they usually are NOT nofollow. So that's not a valid reason not to use them. The duplicate content is of far less concern.
