The best ways to move up your SERPS

I was wondering, for people that have had success ranking on the first page for somewhat competitive keywords and actual competitive keywords, what has helped the most?

Article marketing, etc etc. I need to know some more effective methods of moving up.

 

Content is most important. More content related to your main keywords will move you up.
Then backlinks with your main keywords as anchor text. Backlinks from web directories, articles and forums - all good.
And of course right keywords for best SEO. Read it here....

 

more ONE way links from niche websites, blog, article websites, social bookmark sites are very important.

 

I know all of this already. My site isn't a blog or anything that's updated contantly, it's a website where the content stays the same because it's a hosting website. We do have a blog though but I don't care much about what that ranks for.

Article marketing is a great method to move up but what are some other good ones?

 

Constant content is not good, even if you will achieve #1 pace, at some point you will go down.
Make it more live. Join some related groups on tr\witter and show tweets on your site.
Put some news, headlines once a week. For example: "Google phone call from Gmail" with some short explanation from their blog. Some hosting news, promotions, advices.
If you have your blog, show last comment(s) from your blog.

Try to make it live, not static. Static means dead for Google.

 

Actually, for competitive keyword phrases, backlinks from high-PR sites are the most important. Here's an anecdote to support this. Guess who ranks first for "Click here"? Where's the click here content on that page.

And for low competion keywords, on-page factors matter the most. I rank #4 for a low competion keyword with a "Coming Soon" page with proper on-site SEO and 0 backlinks.

Links from a sites with a high google PR, Links from site with a similar content and think about link extension matter (edu and gov).....

 

Well right you are site may be static so there is no chance to update contents regularly and article posts and spinning is the great idea and one more thing you can do for update your web site's content and that is Forum,you may crate a forum for your web site and daily post on that means daily updates in content.

 

I find Blog commenting and Forum posting a good way to increase the SERP Result...

 

quality back links are very important in seo process.first you have to select most searchable key word and then build link.unique content is also another important topic in seo process.you should try to get more back links from different seo tools.

 

Do submissions on quality sites which have higher pr and dofollow sites. Content is most important. More content related to your main keywords will move you up.

It is also necessary to fuel your sites with fresh niche relative contents regularly and increase your back links using your targeted keywords as anchor text continuously. I always prefer to find backlink of my competitor and analysis the type of backlink(paid link, directory, article, bookmarking, blog comment, forum posting). Then i go for the place and i will have to place a backlink there. Really it help us to improve our serp position.

If you have done proper on-page optimization, then the only way to move up in Google is to have good backlinks having PR and related to your business.
Also, I am seeing many sites using blog comments(mostly do spam comments, specially on .org and .edu related domains) and forums are moving up in search ranking on Google.
