    Hello to all,

I have an Australian based website. I want to rank high in google.com.au because my website & business is based in Australia.
So my question is what do you people think can do to rank high in Search Engine like Google. What activities can we perform, I have basically done On page Optimization, wanted to ask mainly Off page activities and other things. Please don't ask for website URL and keywords yet.

    thanks in advance

    Hey ,

1- You need first to create Webmaster account on Google and set location to Australia .
2- Get some backlinks from Australian websites

Article if you can write and submit, is best method for one way link and fast ranking. second method is social bookmarking and third method is local directory submission.

The main thing is your website is hosted in Australia. After that, get Australian links

create lots of link with Anchor text. Submit your website to local directory and social bookmarking sites.

Also, don't forget the obvious and use Australia related keyphrases when promoting your site.

    Cheers!

Some Australian directories like Hotfrog. This is for business sites, if not business then its hard to get good directory links.

If you want to bring your site top in Google Australia then try to get backlinks from Australian websites. Backlinks from non-Australian will add value to your site but if you want to focus on a specific geographic area then backlinks from that area can be helpful to improve SERP. Secondly try to promote your sites in Forums from Australia in your relevant niche. Directory helps only if your site listed in good directories.

I hope it will help you.

    Thanks

I'm reading a lot these days about creating Link Wheels to boost your site on Google. This involves creating maybe 6 simple "minisites" (e.g., a 2-post Blogger Blog, a 2-post Tumbler, etc.) and anchor-linking your main keyword in those posts to your main website.

Then, go back and link all those minisites to each other, using the same keyword as your anchor link.

I'm just starting this process, but I've seen Google SERP evidence that it's worked for several people on DP and elsewhere.

Its not very difficult to find forums in your niche and region. You can use boardreader.com to search threads based on your niche. If you just search on google.com.au for Your Niche Forums and restrict the search from Australia only then you can find a lot of relevant forums.

    Thanks

boardreader.com looks good to be use but I didn't got your point from "If you just search on google.com.au for Your Niche Forums and restrict the search from Australia only then you can find a lot of relevant forums."
    Please explain again.

Try looking for potential link partners with .au domain extensions or look for topic related australian forum to participate with and that support webmasters link signature posting.
Also, try social bookmarking your website more in the major social networking/bookmarking site.
