Just got an inquiry on one of my generic 3d names .com. Instead of asking my usual $2000 and we settle for $1000, I said it was not for sale (that is hard to say as I sure need the money for renewals). What I did say is I would be interested in a joint venture. I will keep you posted of how that goes. Any suggestions on going into business with someone you do not know? I guess I will ask for other websites he has developed (unless he is an investor). What would the split be? How would we register the domain name in a neutral account? Then I guess we would need a business plan / contract. These are questions we all need to think about as it can be an option to selling.

I can see the value in names like 3DCity.com or 3DHome.com, but names such as 3DMovieBooks.com or 3DPlantShops.com seem of little value to me

 

Currently 3D views of walking through a website will be mainstream. Therefore, 3d Plant Shops could be a great name if they sell plants. with over 6000 searches for Plant Shops, if you have your plant shop in 3D, it would be a perfect fit with possible type in traffic as well. Not my personal choice for an investment, but at least worth $250.00 to the right plant shop buyer in my opinion. As for Movie Books, with over 49,000 global google searches, not a bad name. This name works TWO ways: 1) an actual 3d website selling movie books, and or selling Movie Books that are in 3D. I personally believe you can add 3D to just about any word and it will be valuable to someone... only because 3D websites are coming, so even if the product itself has nothing to do with 3D, and never will, one can showcase their product in a 3D virtual type website; making the name have value as it is very easy to remember. Just my opinion...

i know a lot of people don't exactly like the '3-dash-D', but some do, and as mentioned before, it IS "technically correct" according to the dictionary so that has got to count for something, no? ( i don't know )

After reading a thousand articles on 3-d the past year or so, i can't even say they look funny or out of place to me anymore, so who knows.. maybe these all come around and find themselves as 'semi-valuable' in next year or so... but by no means do i expect these to hit the level of their 'pure' versions.

Tech giants dive together into mobile 3D technology pool

Computer chip maker Intel and mobile phone giant Nokia have teamed up to establish a joint laboratory to concentrate on developing mobile 3D technology.
The lab comes under the aegis of Intel Labs Europe, the company's network of research facilities based on the continent, and is part of the University of Oulu, in Nokia's homeland of Finland.
Among the technology the two companies are known to be collaborating on is a way of enabling mobile phones to display 3-D holograms of the person being spoken to when making a call.

Rich Green, Senior Vice-President and Chief Technical Officer for Nokia, said: "3D technology could change the way we use our mobile devices and make our experiences with them much more immersive.
"Our new joint venture with Intel draws on the Oulu research community's 3D interface expertise, and over time will lay down some important foundations for future mobile experiences," Green added.

The first projects being worked on will be designed for the new MeeGo joint software platform which the companies unveiled at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year.
No more details have emerged of what is specifically being worked on, or when the first fruits of the joint efforts will be available.
