Anyway I spent my whole day the other day with a guy from here. I was doing a PHP project that he posted for $30 the stuff are done - now he wants more done and raised the pay to $100 then until we spent the whole day and reached $700 + $300/month agreement. after the work was done and I was waiting for the payment - he disconnected and until now hadnt gone back to me. You may think that I handled him wrong since I didnt ask for a downpayment nor the payment before doing something else... I somehow trust the guy since he got a few scores in here still at 100% and I badly need money. But still I havent heard from him yet I saw him online here at DP earlier and now his YM is on mobile. What should I do? Well ofcourse I should move on and take it as an experience but how should we prevent this? specially on the programmer part since most cant choose clients (beggars cant be choosers)... anyway im getting tired of being scammed for free work off me... Im looking now to dedicate my time to long term deals here, with downpayments or security deposits... if any of you guys wants to hire an SEO, Designer, Coder, or whatever shoot me up a PM. Thanks for reading and sorry for the long post. Im still giving the guy until tomorrow or the next day before i post his username and site here (or should I?) should I retaliate? since I know vulnerabilities of his site and I can destroy if not damage it even without access (which he already had cut me off with)
I'd probably leave that part out of your next sales pitch. You do realize that you are telling all prospective people who might hire you that "since I know vulnerabilities of his site and I can destroy if not damage it".
+1..oh yeah..i do feel the same... and ofcourse..i know..how u feel..wen u got scammed as i even got scammed here twice,,, kthxbye..
Well then the next prospective people shouldn't be ass hats and scam him. I like how you kinda skipped over the fact that he is protecting his investment and automatically assumed he might be a malicious person who will do that to your site for no reason, cause and effect friends, cause and effect.
I got scammed on here my first couple days on DP, lol, and I've learned my lesson. I'm new to the whole forum interaction thing and didn't know that I could've checked his profile out at the very least which I didn't. I didn't know that DP had an ebay type syetem for me to check ratings. I was the other guy in your situation and I paid for a service and as soon as I paid, the guy stops communicating with me. Now granted I paid with paypal and I'm now in dispute over the payment, but since I've paid, his account on here is now banned and he changed his username twice on here and other scam reports on him have surfaced so my chances look good for getting my money back through Paypal's dispute team. I said all that to say that maybe next time consider an escrow type service. I've done and paid for work using Freelancer.com and the way they work is they put money in escrow until job is completed so at least you would know that funds are there even if you can't touch them until job is done. Just a thought, because most likely the next person I do business with on here will not get paid until job is done or if he/she accepts escrow until we can build a relationship at least.
Ya..I agree too and we all know..Action and Reaction and Cause Effect..but that reaction or effect can give a chance for another action and another Cause...thats the thing which i meant in my above reply.. Nothing is Good and bad Friend..Getting Move on With Experience is all Matters... ps : LOVE and HATE r ONE..
I hate scammers. I spent many years finding scammers on other forums for other things. I have developed methods for finding who people are and obtaining all of there information. Please pm me and I will be happy to help. We'll get all of his info and post it. I will even tell you where he works although he wont have a job long!
So you built a script/site for him and purposely left vulnerabilities in it? I wouldn't pay you for it either.
Excuse me? What kind of vulnerabilities are you talking about, huh? Like gaining access to his control panel? FTP? Or any CMS installed in his site?
Guys if the guy scammed him why are you worried about it. He never said he purposedly left vulnerabilities he said he new where there were vulnerabilites and its a good thing because this low life didnt pay him. The guys a scammer, he deserves vulnerabilites, viruses and anything else. He needs the URL to be banned by google and any vindictive thing you can think of.......I hate scammers.
you must always be careful when dealing anyone on line...It isreally hard to trust people specially when you can't have any control over him...
You must forget this by taking a lesson and never work for any new member or anyone with low rep and asking you to keep increasing work . If you do something and users give you more work than ask him for first payment or leave it .
hehe..LOL, that really sounded like a sales pitch... anyway i dont intend it to be.. i just posted my heart out... and yes his site is not yet fully done - and i never purposedly left vulnerabilities on it since i dont want it to get ruined myself (i might be cleaning it up later if he pushes through) the made contact last night and said the investors backed out and he is now reselling the site again but promised to pay me once he is out of being broke... ill buy it for now - atleast I caught his attention and replied... @mohanpic > yes that should always be the rule - but for desperate people like me, any client would do as long as he pays, cant put down a client that easily... i just hate it when clients take advantage of that...
anyway, thanks for the advices guys.. LOL, the sales pitch worked out even though its not intended - got some PMs thanks again for those who showed care..
Is this a personal issue or an offer for services? Well, you're posting in SERVICES forum so I must say that you just connected your situation with your service offer. LOL Hopefully, you resolve that issue soon. Maybe you could post the username or just leave a negative itrader for him.
