I have about 3000 links, many pr5 blogs, and some from at least five PR6 blogs. I have seen other sites with lesser links and even lesser PR 6 links get a PR of 5. OK, out of the 3000, 500 at least are good links. ie technorati links. 3000 is yahoo. Why is mine stuck at PR4? And yes there are deep links too. Is it because the content of the site is may too diverse?
the content of your site being diverse has nothing to do with your pagerank. did you acquire these links before or after the last pagerank update? how did you acquire the links? 3,000 easily acquired links probably are seen as less valuable in google's eyes than a lot of other links. that being said, why are you worried about PR? unless you plan on selling text links, it really isn't terribly important.
I don't plan to sell text links, but then better PR is a good asset, and the same can be used for linking to my otehr sites, which is why the concern. The links were all organic, and got linked due to some good Posts, from some very high PR blogs. Since I have seen blogs with lesser authoritative incoming links have a PR of 5, I was only curious.. let us say, i am trying to demystify PR.. The links got built over a year.
This is awesome, getting 3000 quality links in one year. Hard Work! The possble reasons i feel: - Normally some links does not pass the PR even if it is not using the No Follow tag. An example of PR 9 Links from W3c sites. - Some blogs provide a link but also put a No follow tags. I think you must wait when google updating the PR value of those site. Just forget all and carryu on with your good work.
wait a month more. if nothing, SIPLTECH was right and youËre just out of luck. upload another site and do the same.
My only concern was, if it was because all the deep links were for varied links. The links were all pointed towards very very different topics.. phew, cost of being a jack of all trade it seems. Now I am planning to host multiple blogs, like blog network... Just got me dream host code monster account
I think a lot of existing sites have been sitting on their current PR for quite some time. As I recall, the last few PR updates did not have major effect on existing sites that already had PR. Just new sites. I know I read that in the google forum a while back. I have a PR6 site that I absolutely know should not be PR6. It gained that through the use of the coop (thousands of links) and I discontinued that back in March of this year, yet the PR has remained the same since. Are you getting good traffic? That's all that really matters, unless you are a directory. I don't think PR matters near as much as it used to, but for directory owners and those who sell links, it's still a measuring tool that people rely on. To be honest, I don't think it's anything you are doing. I think the problem is one on google's end that many keep hoping will eventualy be fixed.
mandoleen, your promotion strategy has no balls, sorry if you´re a girl if you are not afraid of confrontation, PR me K A U D O
Just because the PR has almost nothing to do with the topic of your pages. You have to watch it separately.
haven´t you thought of adding a blog to your blog related directory (blogparty)? covering the blog related hot topics?
one of my sites has been suck at PR5 for about 4 years... regardless of link swapping. Site is updated weekly with articles, and message boards so new content is available about ever minute. It was a PR6 for a few months at one point, but then dropped back down.. I honestly wouldn't worry about PR. it's a waste of time. worry about your high quality traffic that will bring you $$$$$$$$
I'm more or less in the same boat. There has not been a proper PR update since Sept. 2005 and most sites that had prior PR have not updated since.
Point Taken... Point taken Thanks. That dir is not mine, the signature is a forward favour.. But yes, I am working on a similar one..
I think PR is very very secretive, and the algorithm keeps changing. All we do is just guess.. I meantion the variety of topics because, I analyse links very carefully, and since I have many Blogs, I have reason to worry. Other blog which is more focussed, with lesser links are PR5.. You see the little links that I get on those focussed Blogs are all links that is from similar topics... This is a point that needs deeper analysis.
