Organizing home page

OK, so I want to edit my home page. Instead of having one big list of all my categories showing. I want to be able to have say 10 posts from each category one below the other on my home page. How would I do this?

Yes, using query you can do this,

<?php query_posts('[B][COLOR="sienna"]cat=25[/COLOR][/B]&[B][COLOR="sienna"]showposts=5[/COLOR][/B]'); ?>
<ul>
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
<li><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></li>
<?php endwhile;?>
</ul>

Code (markup):

Use the above code where you would like to show your post from categories.
From the code as an example, cat=25 is the category id and showposts=5 is number of posts from the category you would like to have.

Use the same code for your when you would like to have more categories and just change cat id.

It looks so ugly lmao I need a different theme for a news site thats basic, but has some room to play with lol.

 

I believe index.php however if there is any specific file for home (something like template-home.php) you can use.

Good practice if you keep a backup of your file.

I'm trying to find time to finish off and release a free magazine theme...maybe you can test it for me I agree though, even after the changes we made the other night your theme is crap!
