Well you would be happy if it was your blog first, second, third in searches with a high searched keyword.
Not sure what this will mean until I test it out with a variety of searches. I'm going to do some searches on some of my keywords this morning and see where my sites come out in the rankings. Hopefully, they won't have disappeared altogether.
Well, its great only if you have first or second or third place in google ranking for your keyword, else, almost every other site will be on second page of google.
Agree with goldenprince, these changes r good for leaders but there r people who has 5,6,7 position....its a bit not fair i think, but time will show better.
When you search for 'apple ipod' the whole first page is filled with results from apple.com. I think you do need to comment on this. I only hope they will go back to the old rules.
I think google should have thought 1000 times before implementing this new algorithm. at the first look it looked really disappointing. But i think google will show many results from same site only if the user is so specific company wise or site wise. for example let us consider what keym4k3r posted. if you search "apple ipod", then all the results are from apple.com - this is because user is specific that he needs only ipods from apple. but if you search "ipods", only the first two results are from apple.com and the rest are normal.
Right... "apple ipod" will show all the result from apple.com but when I am looking for its review the I will have to move to 2nd, 3rd pages.. isn't it ?
When you're looking for reviews, perhaps you should be using the term "apple ipod reviews" instead of "apple ipod", which gives an entirely different set of results. Having just tested this on a few searches, I don't think there's much to worry about unless you are targetting big brands like the example above.
It is too early to comment on the change in algo for the google rankings and we have to study how our own sites fare for given keywords. Hope it won't get altered drastically.
