I think because people don't just hand it out willy nilly it does set apart members, because if you see someone with 11 rep bars you know there was some effort to earning all those bars if people just handed it out for any rubbish post then it'd lose its value.

 

Interesting point but there is noway for us to know, how or when someone got all those rep points. Nevertheless i believe that you might be lucky and get 1 or 2 points for something "not that good" but i doubt that the 1000 points came that easy.

Well, its not that easy to get many points even if given to anyone anywhere.
As if you get rep from a reputed member from more blobs then only you get more points. Or else you will get less like 1, 2, 5, etc...
And also in general chat and few other sections its not counted from members with less blobs.

The nekid pics of myself that I posted were definitely worth more than 1 or 2 points. j/k ~please, don't do it. It was a joke. You'll get banned.

It's not that often I dish out red but oh yeah, it's so worth it.

 

There have to be something to lose by giving out red rep because idoits would abuse it if not, there's plenty of weirdos out that they'd get some kind of pleasure from distroying others peoples hard earned reputation.

I don't know if it has been asked before or not, but I'm curious as to whether a person knows who gave him reputation? And where does one see the number of reputation points one has? I am new here and although I have been reading out a lot of rules and FAQs, I might have missed out on stuff that I'll catch up on by asking and reading more.

Click here and scroll down the bottom of page... you will see something like "Latest Reputation Received (X point(s) total)".

Edit: It doesn't show that to me yet. I've just registered here yesterday and started posting today, and have none so far...so I'm guessing that perhaps it starts showing it once the person gets some to begin with?
