Hello, I'm looking forward to have a mock up of templatemonster.com, I need suggestions about which CMS I can use which will work best and what type of services I need for this. I need customized design with forum integration. Any programmers can apply for this too
Well you can use any CMS out there, but DO NOT ever use Mambo or its variant, Joomla. Its like a dinosaur: big, ugly and stupid. My personal recommendation would be for you to use WordPress and modify it as a CMS. Wordpress is a blogging tool but it can be easily modified into a CMS. - MENJ
Mambo I can agree on, but Joomla c'mon have you even tried it? It's the best free open source cms out there... no question about it. Wordpress would work wonders too, but you will have to modify it.
I've tried both Mambo and Joomla. Currently Joomla is powering one of my sites and I really regret using it. I am finding a way to migrate the site from Joomla to Wordpress now. - MENJ
drupal is not bad. ModX certainly looks nice and powerful for management part. Joomla is great, but the downside is SEF and it starts to crumble when you put 10,000+ articles in.
Come on, not everyone needs a full-blown (and dare I say 'bloated') CMS like Joomla! when all they need to do is simple publishing. The choice should be based on project requirements, not the amount of features.
Well it can be modified to be used as an CMS, that is one of Wordpress' greatest advantages. Unlike Joomla which is a dinosaur. - MENJ
Hey, all you guys just out of focus from my requirment, I want to use it like oscommerce, online selling store for digital products. and I'm not a programmer man, i just choose one and then hire any programmer to build a custom theme for my site to use there, How about creloaded, can he do the job?
Drupal all the way! It is small inside, but theres a lot of modules to it which and you can costumize it easy. It is fast, SEO friendly, scaleable, clean and have a great admin panel. You may need to spend some time in the beginning to learn how it works, but it's absolutly worth it. Wordpress isn't good because the text editor is annoying as hell. It is also a big piece of junk. It's better than the avarage however. Joomla is one of the worst big fat CMS available, many n00bs chose it because it's somekind of a simple standard. On the other hand it's too fat out of the box IMHO.
With Drupal how effective is it as a CMS/Apps - I have been trawling for a quality 'framework' type focus and beleive I may be able to accomplish this with Drupal. Have you built and specific apps yet, bridged other os systems, or used any api's? Sorry for the questions, but I am excited with the possiblities that Drupal offers. As for Commerce modules, I have seen via durpal forums and modules that there have been a number of web sites use it in realtion to products - seems to work nicely. I am also looking at SPIP, still researching the english documentation of this French CMS. Thanks
