does web directory really help to build a good backlinks ?

OK u know every directory told it has a 4 or 5 or maybe 6 pr .. but this page rank for main page only .. the pages where u put your link on it has no PR or 0 PR .. so what we link our website and pay for this links as much as the directory has pr .. but what is the point to link our links from this backlinks ? if it has only 0 PR its not help .. so any one has a answer for my question ?

Not all directory helps - only the selected directories help - which are listed on google and do have nice directories and not just link-farms.

I wouldn't worry about PR too much. directories won't give you much PR - at least they won't after the period where as the latest link on the directory you're linked fairly closely to the directory homepage. However, directories can still give a boost in SERPs if you use the right anchor text, i.e. use your target keywords as anchor text. For low to medium competition keywords, successful submissions can still make a significant difference in SERPs for a website.

 

You should try it yourself, don't make judgements until you have actually tried it.

 

Directory's subpage may have a high PR one day in the future.

 

It depends on the directory itself, as any other web sites, there are good, useful and helpful directories and there are useless and spam full directories.

If you get a back link from a good directory which has a good ranking and good editorial standards as well as other factors then it will help.

I agree that there are good directories and bad but even the bad ones are not going to harm your site particularly if you get in directories relating to your site.

Always check the page rank of the directory page where the link will be pasted yourself. but definatly pr4 5 and 6 will be better links than a directory with a pr0 or 1

 

Listing in a directory is one small part in bigger overall complex process of promotion. The primary goal of any good directory is to provide quality TRAFFIC. Not PR, not link juice, not back links - TRAFFIC! Can you expect to get the former? Of course. I would not count on it though. If you do things correctly and couple directory listings with quality backlinks in other forms, you can certainly expect to generate PR as well.

I know most parts of this form have run their course, but its getting more and more obvious that nearly all of DP is full of pure crap and bunk when it comes to information, advice and experience.

 

Can only get worse, theres hints of it at sitepoint too, and unfortunately i even see junk replies at some rather high quality webmaster blogs that happen to be extremely informative but i cant help feel that cheapened feeling when i read some responses.

 

I think the main problem is a lot of the forum owners are more interested in Quantity, rather than Quality when it comes to the volume of posts. I think if you just banned any RIPE based IP's in certain countries which shall remain nameless, you'd eliminate about 85% of the chatter and crap.

 

If the category page with pr and the topic is related to your website, it is helpful for your website

 

PR is no major issue. If you have submit you web site information to many web directory and there have no PR which page you have submitted.
If directory give you approval and page crawl by crawler then it will help to boost your site in SERP. So, directory links help to increase ranking in SERP or PR also.
