Hi guys, 10 days ago I sold one of my website on this forum. I didn't get any possitive or negative responds to that, not that I care about that. What I do care about is, that that website is still running from my server. It is a proxy site with almost 1TB bandwidth a month. Can I just kick this website off my server? Or do I have to wait untill that guy that bought my website will respond to my emails? What if I kick that website off my server and I get a negative feedback? Will the staff correct that then?
DP does not get involved in iTrader as a rule, except for totally fake ones. As for the rest, that's up to you to resolve with the person you did the deal with. Presumably they've paid? Do bear in mind that people are sometimes knocked offline for reasons outwith their control - the terrible flooding in Pakistan, for example. So don't automatically assume someone is stiffing you on bandwidth (they might be but it could be something else as well).
Yes he paid without a problem, but I want to cancel that server as I don't have use for it anymore. I don't want to pay for the next month to keep him happy. I could make a backup and then shut down the server.
Yep, your call... I suggest you give it a few days after contacting him, or explain to the DC what's going on and ask for a couple more days grace. If you do knock if offline, the right thing to do is to take a backup!
i guess you make a backup of site, and then kick it off from server, and later when buyer asks you about this, you can simply provide him backuped copy of site
I'd say backup the site, and send it as an attachment to the guy in email. He can't really complain if you do that.
I would have to agree with FootyLover I would make the backup and send it to him and then shut down the server
Don't worry about it if he paid you when he bought the site. It's his loss if he didn't even respond. If the buyer doesn't send a response within a month, though, it's better to kick the site off.
Are you for real? We are now 3 days further and I still didn't get any respond. I have edited the maximal bandwidth usage per ip per day, so I won't get as much bandwidth, because I got an other bill last night as I went over the monthly bandwidth. Its the only website on that server!
When you sold the domain - did you agree to including hosting in it? If not go ahead at kick the domain off before you end up paying more for hosting than you sold the domain for!
If you did not agree to pay the future hosting bill, just have the backup, inform the person and close the account.
If I waited for a week and the guy still didnt respond I would put the plug out. A serious internet marketeer reads his email several times a day so a time limit of a week is more then okay. It wasnt in the deal, he didnt respond you gave him time his fault not yours end of story. And no I wouldnt send him the site by e-mail he should contact you that is the appropriated way. Dont be soft, people will take advantage of you like now. You will see when you put the site down he will react within a few hours.
