PayPal negative balance - what can they do?

I have been a target of fraud, I received a payment, and I had to send it to Ukraine via Western Union for a part of the money. But now the person I received the money from charged me back and won the dispute. Now I have a negative PayPal balance, and I don't have that much money to pay it back.

What can PayPal do to me if I don't add funds?

    If it was a small amount, I wouldn't be worried. It's 312 GBP (that's maybe about $400?)
I mean, it is a lot of money for me, but is it a lot of money for a company like PayPal? Is it even worth it to send lawyers after me? Can they charge my bank account?

I have added both a bank account and a credit card. Like I said, I needed to withdraw the money I received and send it via Western Union. Doesn't that count as a service? (Although I'm not sure that the money was sent with the original owner's consent). I have proof that I sent it, and I have e-mails from the person who hired me. Will this help me in any way?

I don't even know how I lost, I explained everything and a few minutes later the case was closed. I tried e-mailing PayPal, but it will take some time until they reply.

I guess they can probably deduct this amount from your attached credit card.... but certainly not from your bank account!

Well, the card is linked to the very same account, so it doesn't really matter from where they take it...
I've read other topics, and everyone seems to have a different opinion on this. Isn't there anyone who actually has experience?

Actually, they're not that stupid, I can't remove my account when I have a negative balance. (First thing I tried :))
But my CC expires this month, and if I don't update the expiration date, they won't be able to bill it.

hmm like all businesses i think they would probs pester you for ages via email and then atempt to contact you using all the person info they have collected like linked address and bank details.. and probs just shut down account if its a small amount.. they def cant take money from bank without authorization by you.. comes under the Data protection act but yeh just be careful

@Pipert lol dont bother writing something stupid like this

Paypal generates 20 billion USD profit/year they don't care and yes they CAN withdraw money from your bank acct any time without your approval.

    Remove your account.
Best option if they do open a case against you
you should have all your papers in order.
