Simple PageRank question...

I was just wondering, my forum is PageRank 4 at the moment. If I want to increase it to 5 do I have to backlink on PR5 or above or can I move up to 5 if I backlink on PR4 forums too? So my question is, is it possible to move from PR4 to PR5 but backlinking on other PR4 sites or will that take too long and it needs to be PR5+?

You should make high quality back links. It also works even if the sites may PR 4 or lower...

 

Getting backlinks from gov and edu sites will also help you, even if they are PR4 or less.....also, pr4 or less backlinks will not hurt you if its coming from an authority site and related to your forum

You need about 20 PR5 or 100 PR4 links. (500 PR3 or 3000 PR2 links will do the same job)

 

Wow. I haven't the time or money for 100 PR4's lol or even 20 5's.

I believe you will need some links from pr5 gto gain pr5 for your site.

 

Drive more traffic and still looking for great link, you can get more link with press release submission, bookmarking submission, blog commenting or buy a seo service. Do more mutual exchange link and find more gov and edu link will be useful to get pr5 at next update. I have experience with domain that haven't good link but have constant traffic (UV 3000/day), and this time that domain get pr5 as award from Google. Traffic come facebook and blog that grab our article with source as credit to my site. CMIIW.

What difference does it makes if you site in SERP nowhere to be found in top 100 results?

yes link factor work behind the page rank in general i saw this factor but i am not believing this factor always work
Pages who have: fewer than 100 backlinks will be PR 5 or below
100-500 range = PR 6, occassionally 5 or 7
500-3000 range = PR 7, occasionally 6 or 8
3000-12000 = PR 8, occasionally 7 or 9
12000-50000 = PR 9, sometimes 7 or 9
above 50000 = PR likely 9 or 10, occasionally 8

 

Hey don't worry. PR 4 is decent and respectable. DP is currently a pr4. It doesn't matter that much. If you are already a 4 just try to maintain it. If you hit a 5 then great. But honestly it's just a number. As long as the traffic keeps flowing and you enjoy what you are doing and have accomplished that is all that matters.

I'm top of page 1 on Google. I want PR5 because I can charge more for backlinks. I think I can actually charge double what a PR4 can charge.

PR is all about quality backlinks.
Every backlink counts if if comes from a quality webpage.

 

you can even have PR5 from 100,000 PR0 link

 

Just work on back links try to get PR 5 links but if you ca't get them then PR 4 or below also helps you, there will be no harm to your site.
