Hi, another question for the SEO experts....

I write a lot of articles and press releases for the website I work for. We try to distribute these as much as possible around various related websites and some article websites, in order to get our brand name around and also backlinks etc.

My question is....Am I better waiting for the article to be cached by Google on my website before distributing else ware? So Google then knows the content is originally from my website. i.e. would waiting for it to be cached benefit my SEO efforts more?

    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks guys & girls.

    Alex

I think this would depend on whether you are concerned about having the article/press release rank well in the serps from your site or not. If it is a small site, the additional unique content may have a greater impact than a good unique article backlink. I would say the press releases can be submitted elsewhere first and perhaps to your most important sources a few days before the rest of the places you plan to submit. I say this because I use press releases primarily for backlinks. Articles I am more likely to save for posting on my site because I typically write keyword rich relevant articles that will help my site. I will then rewrite the articles and distribute them elsewhere for backlinks.

Good point Hufster. I do the same thing as far as press release go. I use keywords in the anchor text of the backlinks but safe the content rich text for posting on my site.

Yes, It's much better to post on your site first and then
    syndicate it.
