I was just seeing what one of my competitors website backlinks are like, came across a few websites like this http://2563.owdgrdy.info/ looks shady if you ask me, but think Google would think the same?
That page has a zilliion links and repetitive text. Any links from that page arent gonna be worth much if anything.
It's called blackhat (spam) pages. You'll get tons of random links from sites like this. Google doesn't care, as long as you're not linking to them. As far as how the link will affect you... 1000 links from sites like that would be like 1 free submission directory (a half decent one at least)... SO basically it's insignificant.
Well if its spam, why are they page 1 I would have thought Google wouldn't like shady business like this..
Sites that rank well end up on spam pages that show search results. Just like getting in the DMOZ will get you showing up on a lot of crappy DMOZ scraper sites. It doesn't mean that your competitor put them there. It also doesn't mean they help his rankings much. Those kinds of links are a waste of time, focus on trusted sites related to your niche.
The folks @ G claim to be serious about combating spam, yet they still place much trust in DMOZ -- which we all know if full to the brim with corrupt editors -- and they rank sites like 2563.owdgrdy.info and countless blogspot splogs well. Hey G: good luck with that... NB: you should edit your post and remove the live link to that spammy page. By providing a live link from DP, you are doing that spam page a big favor...
Somewhere at Google I read that they make effort to bring "quality search results" to surfers. Sadly everyday are more the irrelevant spam sites returned when your are doing any search
