    Hi Skib25,

To be honest, the only one that you really need on all of your pages is the content type declaration. The Robots Meta Tag is completely unnecessary as the search engine bots will do this automatically, you don't need to ask them to crawl the page.

With Google Site Verification, if you choose to use the META tag method, you don't need it on every page, just the homepage.

    Hope that helps.

    James.

What bavington said... on the other hand, I wouldn't care too much about meta tags because in most cases they are irrelevant for anything...

    @ AmitSolanki1188

It means robots will behave in default way.

They will index your pages and follow the links from this page to find other pages.

You can have detailed information @ metatags.org/meta_name_robots

    :)

You can also link your webmaster tools account via GA now. Setup the GA and then when in Webmaster tools choose that as your validation method. Much easier and cleaner.

the robots is needed only if you want to block some pages.

    This is not true.

description, keywords, verifications, ... are still important! There are a lot of search engines that still "read" them.

    <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

    Code (markup):
is a very important meta tag.

This is not 100% correct. Bots try to feth robots.txt first (afaik) and will then look for the meta tag.
Since there are a lot of search engines this meta tag should not be deleted.

    A good resource : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metatags
