Can anyone shed some more light on this? Are we all destined to pay for adwords? http://www.searchnewz.com/topstory/news/sn-2-20100816GoogleAddsChangesToLocalSearchResults.html The PROOF from a Google Search Result http://www.stepforth.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/google-local-web-search-changes.gif How many small business are going to go bankrupt as a result? How would this work for sites like DP? Do webmasters still rule the web and if so, can we force the public to move to another search engine such as Bing or Yahoo by creating a big enough buzz? Your thoughts everyone please?
I can't understand what you mean. But I don't think Google will replace all the first pages with AdWords results. Google needs to make more money with AdWords platform, but it will also consider the feeling of us webmasters.
Then you have not been following the updates close enough. http://blumenthals.com/blog/2010/02/02/more-on-googles-enhanced-listing-for-local/ http://blumenthals.com/blog/2010/06...onwide-rollout-of-tags-and-adds-new-features/ I said adsense because I was not sure what to call it but I guess its paid local listings. Sory for that Local listings will be a paid to be on top service very soon, then all first pages of serps will be local listings for many keyphrases. http://www.stepforth.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/google-local-web-search-changes.gif This will mean the only way to be on page 1 of google results will be to pay. Agreed?
They are not replacing the first page with adwords. They are testing showing a page of local listings for specific 'local' queries, and yes, some of those may be sponsored - the same way that the top of the 'normal' listings is often sponsored results That's a long way from your Shock! Horror! original post.
I don't need to read the article to know they would NEVER do this. It would alienate users and they would stop using G. What do you think will happen to adwords revenue if they did this.
Seems like a bad idea. Probably just a test or hear say. Doubt it will amount to much, but I will follow this a bit to see where it goes if anywhere.
How can you take one example of local listings and turn that into "proof that we will all have to pay for adwords". I think you may be making an issue over nothing at all.
that will never happen... they know probably what they are doing and with that kind of stuff they only can loose their share and let other better and not corrupted search engines to take control... when you pay something you need to seen, if there is so many ads what you pay ? so, if they increase number of ads their value will be less worth
Nice plug hehe I agree thats why I asked. I think most webmasters would help the transition to Bing or Yahoo. But Google rolled out local listings much to every webmasters dissapointment. Back then everyone siad that would never happen. Google likes to take baby steps, such as moving adwords from the right to having top 3/4 at the top of all listings. Dont be fooled by their attempts to to make sneaky small changes and simply get you used to them. If you have a service that sells something locally you will be pushed out of the serps in the near future. There is nothing we can do about it, just interested to see what people think and maybe kick a bit of dirt around to see if we can get a reaction from Google.
Apart from local oriented matter. I would saying Google has these days because of their quality search results, unlike Altavista whom filled their search results page with advertisers. If all listing in organic results first page are evidently as paid advertisement, even a local advertisers, and not a really organic ones. How could people trust on Google results anymore? My conclusion is Google will not destroy their own reputation by sold organic results space for a money. They would make paid advertisement and organic results separated after all. However, if all organic results space could be sold then I would assume a tons of advertisers are willing to pay for this anyway. Google would gain a huge sum of money in a short period but ruined their branding forever.
i dont think google can do this or it will simply go out of business. searchers will never accept all adwords on page 01 of google. if they blend with organic results as in yahoo paid inclusion, there is possibility
Hi, Firstly, I don't think such things would happen. Search engines themselves would be originally for searching purpose but not for selling ad purpose, IMO. Of course, it is undoubted that Google adwords or Google place should be nice features from Google. All the best,
