Hi,

I have one question regarding search volume. Can you provide me an example on how the google tool exact match search volume converts into traffic when you're at the No.1 spot for that same term?

Let's say I target a phrase which gets 5000 local US search queries and 10K worldwide. When I'm at the top, No.1 spot, how much do you think (approximately of course) the volume of traffic will my site experience?

I need to know if it's close to the figures that the G tool outputs or considerably smaller amount of actual traffic?

Sorry for being MIA but I have been real busy with both maintaining sites, and I have enrolled in a masters program at a local university!

Just wanted to give you a tip that I have been using and should come in handy when dropping in your links. While I'm sure many of you know using proper "anchor text" is key to ranking, however some sites you find, if you leave your anchor text with a link you will find that your link is removed soon after.

One trick around this if you find a high PR site is to use a and put ur link in the smiley face!!! Most webmasters dont even notice!

Yah this is Xfactor method indeed. Thankx for reminding. But i think instead of creating static pages (which is something like MFA sites these days), why not put some effort to research some high traffic low competition semantic long tail keyword ( more than 5 related to main niche), create pages (on site optimized i.e.keyword in title tag, description, url, h1, h2, h3--believe this still counts for SERPs) then keep on searching and creating unique content. 30 backlinks a week is bit slow. (i prefer 30 natural high quality links per day---quality links in a sense- 100 backlinks from PR0 is similar as like getting 1 backlinks from PR1 site so better try to get backlinks from high authority sites, but trying to get more links will take u in the risk of sandboxing). After creating a site (simple not too many plugins installed), create sitemap, submit it to google, manually submit ur site to google, yahoo, bing. Create robots.txt. Bookmark ur site to digg, delicious, reddit, technorati. Submit to link directories, try to get into Dmoz, yahoo dir. After then build natural links. After some days u will be somewhere in 2nd page and after some weeks, in 1st but consistency and patience is the thing. Dont go too fast to build links neither show ur laziness just by creating 100% static pages.
I am pressuring for creating more semantic long tail pages ( keywords optimized) cz u can save ur money for buying another URL for example.
MY main keyword is greentea gel. I made a site greentea.com. My semantic sub keyword is gatsby. Now instead of making gatsby.com, u can go for greentea.com/gatsby.htm. Google bots will identify that keywords are in URL. So, create more pages and when ur position gets down, be ready to write articles on those keywords thats all....
And i recommend to use MARKET SAMURAI+Google adwords tool ( researching and competition analysis) and Market Samurai+spyfu (commercial analysis). My site is 20 days old and its in number 11th in google, 4th in yahoo and 37th in bing ( broad match) for my chosen keyword ( i can't publish that keyword to maintain its dilution otherwise, still there is chance for saturation). And i am still learning and experimenting... i have shared something which i experience, hope u guys enojyed...Thankx and good luck ahead...

 

Another thing which i forgot to mention is, after getting ur keywords, plz analyze its trends in google insights and its performance in particular part of the world. U can get estimation of how the keyword will perform in future days!!!

 

Try this on my blogs and you are likely to get banned / blocked. What is wrong with being honest? Why these shady tricks? And, btw, what anchor text shall Google recognize for such a link? SY

I agree, that's the good reason for banning someone... but, as an answer to your question, many "big" guys says that link is a link, no matter of anchor text... anchor text can help you a lot but it's better to get a link without anchor text than no link at all...

 

This is a very good thread with lots of useful information. I basically, follow some of the procedures mentioned in this thread to get my pages ranked high in the search engines. I have used several tools that has helped me do lots of work in a short period of time.
I believe in working smarter not harder. One of the hardest part about making money online is finding the right product to promote. Then you have to find the right keywords that brings in targeted visitors to your product. I am so glad that I had a chance to try out lots of affiliate marketing products to learn the ropes about research, keywords, backlinks, and SEO. Now I just look for ready made sites and plugins that will do most of the research for me.

 

keyword research is the most important part in getting good adsense earnings from a website, don't think of earning from adsense without proper keyword research, this is a good thread which describes how to do keyword research also, so newbies please be sure you do proper keyword and your income raises decently

I guess you dont see the power in this. You would not use it on a moderated blog, but instead on wiki type sites. And so what if you ban me on ur blog? LOL there are millions out there.

Just gives you an edge over your competition. Oh and as for anchor text, you would use this trick on a high PR site so anchor text while important cant always be 100% relevant.

A backlink is simply a one way link from another site to your site.

You can use profile backlinks, web 2.0 backlinks, social bookmark , blog commenting, forum signatures etc.

One example is my SIG which is a BACKLINK to a thread on DP. Get the idea?
