if my site listed in DMOz dir, then wht are the benifts, i'll recive traffic ? my site show top of google ? increase my site PR ?
>> i'll receive traffic ? - On one site I get between 30-50 visitors a month from a listing there; other sites get none. >> my site show top of google ? - I'll say no. >> increase my site PR ? - probably not enough to make a visible difference.
thanks for reply, 4 months ago i was submited my site in dmoz but not listed yet, can i try it again ?
The basic rule is... SUBMIT & FORGET though many go with the... FORGET 2 SUBMIT (as the results are often the same) So no, don't bother... your suggestion is sitting there (or has already been rejected) there simply is not much more you can do, other then to promote your site through other methods.
And it can atke from a few days to a few years to get a review to a possible listing. All editors are volunteers and work in their spare time and suggestions are just that suggestions.
Not really We are doing a hobby and having fun. The fact it dosent meet yours, or any other webmasters expectations, is not our concern. We are not a listing service, we are a group of volunteer editors building a directory for fun, not for site rankings, not for serps, but for our own satisfaction. If people want guaranteed reviews and acceptance, they should go to directories that provide this service.
It's not a matter of setting standards for webmasters, or even the concerns of editors... what is sad is that it can take more then two years to get listed, that's directory standards! If the ODP is trying to set the bar, they are setting it VERY VERY low! Think about how fast information changes in this wonderful age of technology... now make a good page about the technology of tomorrow, and by the time it's listed it's still far behind the times. That *IS* sad, no matter how ya look at it. Sorry.
1. You won't directly recieve traffic from Dmoz itself but you will receive traffic from several search engines as your rank goes up. 2. It won't be on the top of google but your rankings will increase. Not by DMOZ alone but it helps along with other seo methods. 3. I do believe that being in DMOZ will make your pr stable to never go under pr3 but after that you'll need to step it up for more pr.
thanks all of you! let me try again submit my site to dmoz dir, my site is about entertainemnt, like music, forums, anf free stuff, please tell me which dmoz category is best for my site if you want to check my site please click on my signature and tell me. thanks
Personally wouldn't waste your time with DMOZ. Could take you years to get listed and there is no communication to let you know if you've been accepted or declined. Spend your time submitting to high ranking directories.
Don't get too worked up about it. Just accurately submit your quality site to the appropriate directory. If you get listed great. If not don't worry about it and get too worked up. It's not the end of the world. Just move along and do some other directories, backlinking, etc.
My site never get listed on DMOZ so to me its useless, may be it will bring some traffic but i don't think that it has any other advantage than that.
nowdays its not possible to get listed in dmoz. just submit and forget about it. but do not need to worry about that, you can still get rank high without listed in dmoz. its all depends on you.
The benefits of submitting to DMOZ and other directories is that it can give you good backlinks. DMOZ is regularly indexed by SE, so a backlink from them would give your site an added linkjuice.
With each category having over a hundred editors those numbers do seem a bit low don't they? Though who really knows. Editors of the ODP are not willing to talk about such things (unless it was my edit count). Can ya compile a list of added sites? I'd really like to match it up with known affiliated pages, and here: http://directory.domaintools.com/internet-statistics/dmoz-listings.php?p=1
