    Hi,

I bought recently the extension .org of a a reputable and famous compagny. The domain have been registered in 10 countries but it seems that they forgot this one.

I am not living in us and not a us citizen.

I saw that more and more people buiny domain trademark have to go to court and have to paid dammage.

My question is: is there a risk to own a such domain if we don't use it.
Why can we buy it if it's not possible to own it without risk?
Is it possible to sell it?
What are your suggestions in this case ?

make a website which has no relation to the company, but relation to the domain and you should be safe. (no ads so they cant claim damages)

Thanks. But the compagny could say I use the popularity of the trademark, confuse people and try to get costumer in my own profit.
I red somewhere that we contact the owner of the trademark, they could use this to court and show you have bad intention.
So is there no way to sell it ???

The brand name will be trademarked, so I don't think they've forgotten to get the .org version, they don't have to, as they can rely on the trademark to protect them from people trying to use it.

It's unlikely you'll be able to use it without being asked to take it down. If you refuse, they could take you to court There's been a case in the UK recently where someone set up a website containing the name of a well-known brand (the domain contained the brand name amongst other words, not just the brand name). The court found in favour of the brand.

I don't think it's worth the hassle. You could put a lot of effort into building a website and have it all taken away from you.

It's always a risk when you do this with a major corpration. They will mostly likely offer you X amount to buy it from you or take you to court. I've seen a few go with the first route such as a Adobe.

But if it's a US company, they can't do nothing about it right say if he lives in the Asia somewhere or the UK.

Doesn't matter where he lives. If the registrant is a US Corporation or comply with International Copyright Law he's out out luck if the company decides to do that rather then buy it off him.

My idea was not to build website as i know it was already a risk but more to sell it. The think is after reading more and more about this subject i begun to bee more serious.Do i have to contact the company and propose them to move the domain to them or transfer it ? Wait them contact me ?
There is another thing. As i dont use the domaine name and didnt change the dns, the registrar gg have is own ads on the page.
I am still surprise a such big financial firm didnt register that ...

Don't contact them, that'll usually lead to them to go to your Registar and get it free. Just wait til they contact you. :)

Thanks CGM. I avoue I am quite serious. But as a domain buyer, how can i coulnt grabb something like that.
Ii's the firsts time i got such case.

Do i have to try delete the page with the ads. I even dont know if it's possible. It's automaticly park with gg and his own ads.
    It will maybe more safe.

I am sorry but getting a domain name with a trademarked name included in it... is a bad call, particularly if the name involved is famous world wide. You will not be able to pretend ignorance in such a case and ultimately, you would be forced to surrender the name in their favor.... without any monetary gains! :(

    Regards,

I canceled the domain which have more value that the famous toyota.me.

The think is why GG have write now an auction with imbd.co which is a trademark from few companies.

If someone have a trademark on " chocolat" or "just" doesn't mean that no one can have an extension of the domain chcocolat.com even the web are talking from different think.

No one could set up a web site about chocolat reciept with a chocolat.me ?

Stop making stupid posts on subjects you don't know anything about. ICANN is a US company and can take the domain no matter where you live or where your provider is.

That is a risk. One day you will be able to lose your domain name. I do not recommend invest in such domain names at all.
