    with wordpress sites that's much more simpler :) a lot of captcha plugins and once you turn good captcha on - everything works fine. with comments btw - there is askimet plugin to preven spam. I had more problems with comment spam rather than with submissions.

    if it's wordpress - turn on askimet :) 99% of problems will go away. Frankly speaking - I am big fan of WP engine as everything just works fine :)
