Create a squidoo page within the same niche: ie, if you have a site selling guitars, make a page about a certain guitarist.

Just make sure to link back to your site, using the anchor text you want your site to rank for, in the page ie:
This guy is amazing with a bass guitar

It means that you need to build more backlinks for your site using that keyword. Double your task in getting relevant link as much as you can do to outrank your competitors

IMO, the higher position guy actually have good on-page SEO even if the site looks old fashioned.

And I'm sure they have numbers of actual, legit backlinks on them.

Actually, your SEO can be worse than the higher guys - you'll see that the top guy have alot of pages that SEO'd for 'Carros Tunados' linked together while on your site I only see the main page doing this.

Your old site is an OLD page. That's why it's higher up. Google likes old pages more than new ones because they're proven. Remember, the average lifespan of a web page is 75 days. This factors heavily into how search engines manage their listings of web pages. They give a lot of weight to the fact that a site has beaten the odds and survived for years.

It is probably no coincidence either that that 75 day mark also happens to be around the age that the "sandbox" kicks in for a site, though it does not happen to all sites.

My old website was #1 for its keywords for years and I never had to do anything at all to keep it there. My new one? Same content, perfect matching domain, have to keep advertising or it slips within days.

Actually my pages are new. I'll wait up to 75 days. I believe it will make 2 months of age my posts, because I changed the permalinks.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear that, didn't realize the thread was a year old. I have trouble getting ahead of some of the sites that have terrible SEO as well that are aged. What about trying to add a Youtube video related to your niche on the main page? Add a few more headings?
