if you really played the game you would know you got to play Protoss for a few missions as well. Not just controlling a few units, but base building as well.
Anything i can say about it is that i suck in it . The gameplay is good and i like the game but i just lose to many games, thats the reason i don't play it that much anymore.
The multiplayer is pretty vicious and unforgiving, especially on random teams say 3vs3. I find there is less "give and take" in battles, and more victories are won with just one or two vicious pushes.
5 out of 29 missions(29 if you include the double choice ones and the secret one as well). With no possible upgrades(except the "In the utter darkness" mission), cut out abilities, missing tech etc. 1 straighforward storyline which is there to shed some light on the reason why we are #SPOILER ALERT# saving kerrigan as terran in the other 24 missions. Hardly called playing protoss is it?
The fact that you get to use all the protoss units in the mission where you have to fend off 1000+ zerg, that's enough to give us what's offered
Some of the missions are awesome. The final Protos one included (although for me it did drag on a little). I very rarely play RTS games online. I bought this solely for the single player and enjoyed going through it, so here are my thoughts from that perspective. It feels a lot like an RTS 2.0 in the way it's built. However overall I was disappointed because it's no where near as good as the original. It's like Deus Ex 2 compared to Deus Ex 1. One of my big hates was how the story was told (something the first excelled at). It felt that to a large degree your essentially just bumming around the galaxy doing odd-jobs for people whilst all the real stuff (zerg invasion + rebellion) is all happening else where. Between these are very nice looking cut-scenes all taking place with the same people, in the same rooms usually comming out with quite dull dialog. 90% of the story takes place in about 2 rooms. Very little of the story is told on the battlefield, something that was done well in the first and helped to intertwine mission and story together. It's a real shame because the few FMV pieces included are all beautiful. Overall I also found the plot itself a bit cliched, predictable and not dark enough. But my main gripe is still hold it's told rather then the story itself. As for the gameplay itself, generally I really liked it and this is it's strong point. I personally found it much easier then the first game and all missions typically took around 30 to 40 minutes (I'd have liked some larger epic long battles towards the end). But again most of the missions are very well thought out and there is a _very_ nice mix. But the number of terran missions does drag a little. I'd have preferred three smaller campaigns like in the original as it breaks up the game more. I'd have also preferred a long list of missions that all related to the plot rather then the mix of sub-plot lines you can follow. I ended up skipping some of the earlier missions ones and comming back to complete them at the end when I had most of the advanced units. This made them boringly easy. Finally the money/research/upgrade systems felt like a bit of an after thought. They make a noticable difference on the battlefield, but it didn't feel like they integrated well with the rest of the game. Just something extra on the side that you can go and interact with between missions. IMHO it's an excellent game and the RTS of the year, but not worthy to be game of the year. Avoid buying it full price.
Starcraft 2 is going to be in WCG for sure and it's taking the World by storm. Personally, I'm not exactly into Strategic Games BUT when I tried out Starcraft 2, I got hooked. It's a great game for sure man.

starcraft was my favorite game bot starcraft 2 is good bot i expected way more, plusthe game is burning alot of video cards which suck
I loved the game. Played the Terrain campaign. Liked the new look of the menu, new units and upgrade trees. Looking forward for new campaigns.
The challenge modes are also fun. They help with teaching you what units to use vs different types of units. Helpful to know this if you are heavy into multiplayer and you keep wondering why your armies get slaughtered by a particular unit. I really like how they did the achievements too. Some are quite easy to get while others difficult.
I've always been a huge fan of Starcraft, I'm far from being great at it, but I do fairly well. I just seem to have a hard time microing when in combat, I forget about my primary base alot.
The graphics and game play on multiplayer kick ass! It's a great game if ya loved the first one and I'm getting it tomorrow, when I get paid! Over all it's terrific
