The 2 main reasons that would cause Google not to use your meta description are either because it doesn't contain the keywords that are triggering the listing, but they are on the page; or it's the wrong length. Between 120 and 160 characters is ideal.

It might be that Google just hasn't indexed your changes yet, if it's new. Otherwise, it might just think that your page content is more relevant. I would experiment with different descriptions and page content until it works.

Google not give any special value for meta description, G point of view meat description is only a content.

Your meta keywords must be on the meta description just even once. For example your meta keywords are digital point forum, digital point, seo forum. Then, your meta description must be Digital Point Forum the best when it comes to SEO. Hope this helps.

I agree with johngfcarey, Actually google isn't using metakeywords as stated on Google official blog , so don't worry , It won't affect your rank at all

I usually limit my meta description declaration up to 2 sentences only. There's no point to make it longer actually 'cause, like the title character capping, description will be cut if goes beyond the specified character limit. Magda actually had mentioned the most possible reason why it wasn't read.

Another thing is that, you might have coded your meta description wrong or use old html syntax. Try a safe xhtml coding. Tag should all be small caps, attribute content should be quoted and any tag should always be closed.

Anyways, have you tried validating your code to the w3c?

google doesn't read meta data, meta is the snippet that shows in the serps, it's meant for the user not for the engines
