Please allow me to make this a bit deeper than just a couple of words. Setting - I played SC1, a lot. I played warcraft 1+2 before that and Warcraft 3 after that. So you can see I'm a fan of the blizzards RTS games. I also enjoy strategy titles from other companies, greatly like the Civilization series and the C&C series as well. Starcraft 2 is a masterpiece .It has the best and deepest single player campaign I have ever seen in an RTS. The cinematics(there are a LOT) tell the story just like C&C movies did, but missions aren't as repetitive as in C&C. Pretty much every single mission is not like the next, even base building is not always a common factor. I am in the middle of my second playthrough - went back to finish the achivements and to try to beat it on brutal lvl. Multiplayer is awesome and balanced, although the fast pace might be a bit hard for a new player to get used to. Now there are downfalls, especially for someone who played on battle.net 1 a lot. There are no multiplayer chat rooms. Custom game support is...weird. And the campaign ending is crying out for an immediate sequel since the story is nowhere near an end, which is a little disappointing but understandable with SC2 containing 3 episodes and only the first one being out. So in all - a great game. No, actually, a GREAT game.
I definitely agree with what Lunarode is saying! One great thing about SC 2 is that even though it has high quality graphics, it never deviates from the fast gameplay of SC 1. For me, gameplay feels almost the same but just a lot cooler! Btw, I'm a woman but I'm gonna say this: ROACHES are the BOMB! Zerg roaches I mean. =p
Still don't have that much time to download the game. It was released in my country about a week ago.. I will definitely do that if i have a free day
When he says "Downloading" it doesn't necessarily mean pirating. You can get a digital copy of the game in the blizzard store, download the client from battle.net and play just like you would do with buying the game from a store.
I love it! I bought the collectors edition for the sweet usb pen etc. The single player is amazing and really in depth, The graphics are spectacular. So many custom maps and some really great ones already! In depth multiplayer matchmaking system and leagues. A great game that will be heavily played for years to come!
Just finished the final mission just yesterday but overall it wasnt that hard. Enjoying the multiplayer so far though and custom maps = ftw
Hmm, I don't fully agree with everyone. The single player was fun, good story and graphics. BUT the multiplayer lacks the same depth as the original. Not as many counters are possible and it is not very easy to come back from countering builds wrong.
Overall they did a great job with SC2 but it still needed some work in it that would distinguish it from SC1. When I play it I feel I'm back to playing SC1. Don't get me wrong, I loved SC1 but I was expecting a different experience than what I got in SC1.
I was apart of the large beta that they reproduced. A few things I dislike about it is that you have to be online to play it. And the single player campain sucks. You can only be one race. With that being said. The graphics and game play on multiplayer kick ass! It's a great game if ya loved the first one and I'm getting it tomorrow, when I get paid! Over all it's terrific
Did you beat it on brutal? Im in the middle of my second playthrough, trying to do everything on brutal and finishing the achivements i missed. You don't have to be online to play single player. You just to have to login once to your bnet accoutn from your computer and the next time you can play single player offline. No achivements though. And yes you can only play one race but the campaign even this way is much more than what you had in SC1 broodwar and original. More races and hours of gameplay will come in future episodes. And yes I agree that multiplayer is awesome.
