I have a site that has mixed content from USA and Greece
    mostly news.
At Google webmaster tools geotargeting is disabled , but even that i have more than 50% content in english i have more visitors from Greece.
If i consider the population of the two countries i would expect that usa visitors would be a great deal higher than from Greece.

If i remove Greek content will it increase my usa traffic ?

@panakos From your story, I would say that you are doing a good job in your Google local. Removing Greek content might hurt your traffic from Greece.

Non-English sites tend to receive more search traffic than in English sites because of the high competition between English sites. Getting ranked on SERP's is much easier for a non-English site than an English site (I assume both of the sites are optimized similarly.)
Usually traffic from non-English speaking countries doesn't generate more revenue than the traffic from English speaking countries. Of course there may be some exceptions if the purchasing power in that country is more than the US, CA, or UK. But the conversion ratios of your site is more important than these general factors before targeting a country. The same product or information sells differently in different countries even if the site has only 1 language. If your site doesn't convert well in the US, Canada or UK then no matter whether you receive hundreds UV's daily from those countries or not. Also the bigger population may not increase your site revenue in some cases.

If your site content is not about a country then there is no need for 2 languages. You can safely remove any one of them.
If you have a country specific content, you must analyze your visitors carefully before removing a language.
You can feel free to target a country at the webmaster tools. It will not decrease the search traffic from the other countries which you don't target.

    Good luck.

    Hi,

In my own experiences, organic traffics from search engine would mainly depends on back links sources but not on page contents. So, if you want more traffics from USA, you would need to build more back links from USA.

    wish this help,

Google USA is more competitive than Google Greece , so it is easy to get good position in Google Greece than Google USA.
As you website has mixed content from both countries , you get extra mileage in Google Greece's SERP.
Personal Suggestion : Do not hurt Greece traffic any way after all we optimize our website for getting visitor not only to get rank in search engine , even if you do not get good position in major SERP ,although you able to get good traffic is making more business sense than better position in SERP but low traffic .In long run you will get more benefit from these visitors.

IF you removing Greek content then maybe hurt your traffic from greece, Google will be able to get back more perfect search results for a specific geographical area.

I think the best you can do is to make more English contents but still retaining the original way for Greek contents. Get backlinks from US sites too!

Not at all. If you want to get US traffic, then you need to acquire visibility coming sites with audiences mainly coming from the US.
