Quick question, when it comes to nofollow links I understand that google doesn’t pass and PR from the link but can it help with serps? Thanks
In my experience no-follow backlinks do help. Perhaps not as mach as dofollow links, but they do count. People like to repeat what they hear and everytime someone writes "no-follow backlinks are useless" the parrots amplify the statement a thousand fold.
There will probably be a million answers for this and they will probably equally disagree. Personally I don't think nofollow links are good for passing PR or any of that but at the same time, a link is a link so it can't hurt. I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about them though and stick to the do-follows from good PR sites. Thats how you'll see the quickest gains.
Do not forget on the nofollow-links gain from Bing, Yahoo, Facebook and Twitter searches. One day those services will get their 50% worldwide search share.
you know that google not see an important of dofollow backlink or nofollow backlink i think this 2 type of backlink is good one thanks
You made me really laugh with your statement about the parrots amplify a statement a thousand fold. We have concentrated on building mainly do follow backlinks and did not get really anywhere because we just couldn't get enough do follow links from niche related sites. Now since we just don't care anymore if dofollow or nofollow and we much more concentrate on getting links, even if it mainly nofollow links from niche related sites, our site made a huge jump in the serps on pretty much every of the main search engines (Google, Yahoo and even in Bing) . E.g. for just one keyword phrase we jumped on Google from position 186 to position 19 within a very few weeks! So if anybody still is trying to tell me nofollow links are no good, so I laugh inside and just completely ignore that statement But, I do agree, if you are chasing for PR so ok, then go for dofollow mainly but PR isn't anything I would worry about anymore. PR doesn't draw a lot of traffic but good positions in the serp's and lots of links on different websites/blogs do draw more traffic for sure. Cheers verdecove
verdecove, very good post. Chasing for PR means wasting your time nowadays. The best thing is to link from all available relevant quality sources, without looking for that artificial follow-nofollow stuff. And make it consistently and regularly.
I can't hardly wait when the next hysterical threads about when finally the next Google PR update will be will show up again. Google really has started something with their PR and since Google's toolbar it got even worse. And of course all the "professional" SEO experts are taking good use of this and are trying to sell their services of high PR backlink building. And actually all it takes is some efforts and a good portion of time to build QUALITY backlinks. We have learned this the hard way too. Unfortunately all Newbies still will keep jumping on all that PR crap, no matter if they are really intend to sell links or not. PR is "in" and a must have, no matter if it brings traffic or not I guess. Sooner or later they will learn it too. We got a PR 3, which is for an e-commerce site not a bad ranking within a pretty short amount of time and haven't seen any, really zero increase of traffic. The increase of traffic came with better rankings in the serps and placing links in forums and blogs they relate to our shop. Btw George, I'm originally from Germany but I never heard The Netherlands were the Silicon Valley of Europe! But I know you guys make a really good cheese that I really miss here in Texas. Cheers verdecove
For SERPs - I find that no follow links work in combination with higher value links (and not on their own). For PR - no follow links do not count. What really are you after? A site with a PR6 or a site ranking No.1 on Google for profitable search phrases for your business?
In my own experience, nofollow links can be a gold mine that people are overlooking IF you build them quality. It takes longer than using some lame program, but it's brought me traffic and PR 4 to a site with just 3 backlinks counted by Google.. maybe I have a fluke, but I don't believe so. Mainly, I think if you build for actual people you get actual results, you know? Just my 2 cents - hope it's helpful!
The most important is that link will be from relevant website - this will improve your SERP (not PR).
Hi, Generally speaking, all back links with correct keywords as anchor text would help in SERP purpose if only they are from decent sources. Also, such thinks are helpful for increasing your link popularity. all the best,
I think it helps in SEPR ranking. But, dofollow is more greater than Nofollow. You can found popular dofollow blog list here: http://www.hacktutors.info/2010/08/50-dofollow-blogs-to-increase-your-page.html Hope it helps you
You must be referring to this one! http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1902117 Well you haven't waited much at all mate! lol
Ya this is the fact that no-follow links are not considered by the Google to increase your pr and have no effect in my opinion for pr increment. BUt I have notices having some good no-follow links improves your web visibility/ keywords viability in the search engines. And another thing there are also other good search engines apart form the Google that have a weightage for that.
