I visited probably all of the forums and web blogs on the net and somehow created some confusion on my part. Honestly, I dont know which is better as far as optimizing your site is concerned.. I would like to know before i spend time, effort and money on my site.. please I really need your help and your expertise on this one... Thanks very much...
Dedicated would always be better but few people starting a new site will see any diffrence. You can start with shared and make the decision in a year or two. There are exceptions, for instance if you are speding 200k a year on your site don't spend $5 a month on hosting.
I have a website which is currently I am maintaining..before it was on a shared IP and on a less features web host...then I moved it into a new web host with good features and signed up with dedicated IP..So after moving the webhost and made it dedicated IP..it dropped from se ranking.. from 10 to nowhere to be found... hmmppp.. they said maybe its re-indexing the ip address.. If I knew thats going to happen I wouldnt do it in the first place... Some says it has nothing to do with moving of webhost and changing of IP.....and if you make it dedicated ip its more expensive...right?? So, imagine if youre paying on something(dedicated IP) that wont do any help to your site.. why pay more..?? right?? That gives me a lot of confusion.....
okay forget about the moving of webhost... All I want to know right now is , if its better to host with shared ip or dedicated ip..?? based on your experiences and etc...
It does not matter if it is shared or dedicated. Google said that it does not matter and that the they understand that a shared server can host good and bad sites. The domain name gets flagged, not the IP. Christoph
check out a thread i had before hosting services.. a big no no, 100 mil cant see your site it explains some of the dangers involved with shared hosting.
Shared or Dedicated IP doesn't matter as far as site optimization is concerned. All search engines will add your site to their index regardless of whether it is using shared or dedicated IP address.
Yeah, I have to agree if in your post "site optimization" means SEO optimization then I can't imagine shared vs. dedicated would make a difference. In my previous life as a Sys. Admin., I would estimate there are many 100's of 1000's (millions?) of high raning websites using IP sharing. I just can't imagine IP's having anything to do with it. If by "site optimization" you mean time-to-post page or time to deliver some heavy streaming audio/video, than it definately could matter. I assume, given the category your posting under that it's the former, so my vote is 'No' doesn't matter. Thanks, Randy
hello guys... do you have any samples of shared ip site that is ranking good in SEs..?? I mean just to prove that shared ip and dedicated ip dont make any difference..
