Are .tk domains bad for seo?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by Wulkan91, Aug 6, 2010.

Hey, I'm just wondering if anyone knows if the free .tk domains are more difficult to get top ranked in google with.

I've personally had some .tk's but it seems to me that .com always claims the first page in google faster.

    Does anyone know?

.tk is a waste of time if you do not buy them as dot.tk takes your domains if they do not have enough views...

Having your own domain name makes your company look professional. If you publish your site through an ISP or a free Web hosting site, you'll end up with a URL such as www.yourisp.com/-yourbusiness. This generic address does not inspire confidence in a customer like a www.yourcompany.com domain name does.

People/customers tend to run away screaming when they see free hosting or domains. Can you blame them tho?

I don't really know what you're talking about since it has nothing to do with .tk domains and seo.

.TK is a simple redirection service i think you are not unaware about the feature of redirection... because it simply redirects the website pages so in this manner there is nothing available for SEO!

I was having 2 domains with them. When my domain get around 1000 alexa ranking in India. They took the domain from me and they have made pointing it to their domain parking .

And after the domain losses its credibility it is been given back to me after 6 months. It is a paid one.

So dont believe them. Customer support is useless.

I have never heard about this domain before and can add that you will make much better decision to choose .COM or . NET domain.

No, It's not a simple redirection service. You can set up DNS with it aswell just as simple. Pls don't make commens when you clearly have no clue how dot.tk works.

Even if dot.tk offers DNS management service you still do not have full control on it.
Can you afford $1-2 for a .info domain? It is better than .tk

Yes, I know .com's etc are better. I do have .com domains aswell.
This was just a simple question if search engines rank them lower since they are free. :)

What is the point in search engine ranking , when you are sure that you are going to loose the domain one day?

If you want to rank in new zeeland i'm sure its fine seeing as that's where they're for as far as I'm aware, but it's like anything else, a .fr site wont rank well in a .co.uk search and so on, basically it is a regional tld so it wont rank well in a .com search or a search that doesn't belong to it's search area. simple. If you're doing something spammy .info $1 and your done.

I have yet not lost any .tk domain and I had never seen anyone say they lost it before.
Are you shure the domain did not just expire?
Also, I've gotten help by their customer support and I wouldn't say it's useless since it only took 5 hours for them to solve my problems and respond.

See i was having 6 months time. My domain name was in top 1000 in india and top 60k in alexa.

Then they took it to make some cheap money. From that point I have decided not to take them. Most of the time. my.dot.tk will not be up. if you want to change your site nameservers also you need to wait for a long time.

Better stay away from them. it is not worth investing on them. you cannot sell the sites also , since no one buys it.

Nothing is bad. .tk is for the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Tokelau, a territory of New Zealand located in the South Pacific. If you optimize your site, you can easily get your site within Google search.
