I have a question for you: Do gambling links have a negative impact on PR and / or SERPs? Thanks for answering this!
Hi, In my own experiences, any back links would be useful for SERP purpose if only anchor text are correctly used. But, Google would punish it if you link to some such sites. have a nice day,
The answer to my question is still unclear to me. If I place outgoing gambling links on a site of mine, does this have a negative impact on the PR of my site or its position on the Search Engine result page? Does anyone know hands-on?
I don't know, but gambling links (from non-gambling sites) are usually a red flag indicating paid links, which as you know are VERY BAD. your PR drops to zero and your site stops showing up in the serps.
The first thing you will see as disadvantage is that readers of your site will get away from your site by clicking on those attractive gambling links which is a big loss to you as they don't navigate further on your on own links And as SE's place high value in ranking a website based on link-analysis(both incoming and outgoing) it can be disastrous, if you link to improper places. So beware of linking to bad sites.
If I give you an answer based on what I read on other forums and blogs, the gambling links aren't recommended. But from my experience this links can help you. In the past I've done some link exchanges with some gambling sites and this links helped me.
It is logical to expect the risk to be increased. For one, gambling sites are much much likely to be in "bad neighbourhoods" and there is also an issue of paid links.
Outbound links on a site must be relevant to it. There is no restriction for inbound links. Because they are not controllable due its nature. There is nothing special for gambling sites. You can buy links from such sites even if your site is not about gambling. You will only waste your money not your SERPs. If you sell links to irrelevant sites you may lose some authority. So, you must do your own cost-benefit analysis before selling links to irrelevant sites.
