I created a highly targeted ad, individual landing page, with keyword in title, h1 tag and framed landing page of an affiliate. And I STILL have to pay 1$-5$ per click (yeah right). WTF is up with that. How do these idiots at adwords make any money at all? The funny thing is that the number 1-5 site for same keywords has 0 content on it.
No ones making any money with AdWords, it's all a big lie. The system sucks, give up on it now while there's still hope.
I started AdWords about a week ago, and had the same thing happened. The problem seemed to go away within a day or two (click on my blog to read my frustrated post while it was happening!). I didn't do anything to fix it, I think Google just got "used to" my web page and gave me a break. I don't know why they do it like this though, it scares off new advertisers. Not such a smart business move it seems, but there it is. Google ranks your pages' "quality", though the timing of it seems rather random, as does the criteria. Anyway, I suggest waiting a little bit, and checking back in a day or two to see if the minimum bids are down where they should be. Don't actually bid the $10!
Yeah you're cool dude. Instead of acting all sarcastic, why not suggest some actual ways to make money with adwords? Yeah it does seem to fluctuate and some keywords become active over time. I need ways to beat the system and improve "relevancy".
even though your bid may be $10 with google search, if you place your max CPC at a "normal" and "competitive" bid, like 10c or whatever your ad will still get shown on the content network...
When you get around to asking a grown up question that doesn't include things like "WTF" and "how do these idiots make money" I'd be happy to answer it. Start here.
Dude I didn't mean idiots as in advertisers, I meant adwords itself. I'm frustrated. Hours and hours of work wasted. Wouldn't u be pissed? Anyways, how do I get around the relevance algo?
you can't really. Reevaluate whether Adwords is cost effective or whether Yahoo may be better for you.
I've been at this years and have proably dealt with hundreds of hours of frustration. I hear ya loud and clear - feeling like you wasted time is a pain in the ass. You really can't - at least not to any great extent or for any extended period of time. Your best bet is to find a way to work within it, or, explore some other PPC avenues such as adcenter or yahoo where - at least at this point - relevance of the ad/landing page/keyword, etc is not as important of a factor as it is in AdWords.
