As I'm accepting and rejecting submissions to my blog directory, I'm getting very bad vibes from some of the blogs. If a blog has a few good posts, but way too many Google ads (even if well integrated), I always get the feeling that the content can't be that great knowing that the only purpose for the blog is most likely to generate adsense revenue. Do you guys feel the same way when you see a blog with nothing but ads?

    Sometimes....

When the ads are in your face and you need to scan to find the content. I dont mind when the ads are placed in the sidebar.

The funny thing is that the owners of those splogs never pay for any submissions, they expect everything for free and won't invest a penny into their marketing. When you can't even spend a dime to get your spam site seen, then don't drag down others with you.

Right, and I believe that policy will be best long term speaking. Can't let their lack of quality and skills effect your own work.

Ads in themselves aren't a turn off. They may even be for something I'm interested in. The turn off is when ads are the only purpose or they are excessive.

I think that google ads are so common that they are mainly ignored, it's other factors, like good content, attractive layout etc. that determine if the site is a turnoff or not.

I like creativity, here is a blog that just got submitted http://tightassmarketing.blogspot.com/ where the ads don't bother me too much. For some reason the "marketing resources for cheap skates" cracked me up ;)
