SATA Drive + XP ....

I wonder if anybody has any ideas about my computer plight.

New SATA drive, a Caviar Green from WD (5000AADS); XP compatible.

BIOS recognizes drive. System>device manager recognizes drive.

XP Pro OS ignores it; doesn't show in My Computer. Can't access drive.

MB is MSI N9N Neo, with most recent BIOS update. Raid is disabled.

    Any thoughts?

    Many thanks.

    Hi There

    Have you partitioned it yet?

Right click My Computer and select Manage

    Then navigate to Disk Management

What does it say in there?

I'm guessing it will say "Unallocated"

    Any questions just ask!

    Regards

Yeah, first of all go into BIOS and make sure it's active to use, not just the fact that it's seen.

And second, make sure it's partitioned and actually ready to use.
Hard drivers aren't necessarily plug and play all the time.

I fail to understand that how a pirated Dark, Black or whatever color OS can sort this problem!!

    i also do.
they just slipstream software or whatever into it.
you only need to slipstream a service pack or raid driver if your main drive requires it,otherwise you can install in windows.

it's either sp1a or sp2 that added support for large drives.
