Payment to be held?!

    Hi,
I had an email from PayPal today telling me that from now on they will be holding all of my payments for 21 days before clarifying that my customer is happy with their purchase and releasing the funds.

There is no explanation of why this is being done.
I have been using PayPal as my sole payment processor since I began in November, and have not had one single problem with an unhappy customer.
There was one refund on an order a couple of days ago, but this was because the person chose the wrong shipping method and I suggested that we start the order again with the right shipping method. So the money was refunded for them to place the order correctly.

I really don't understand why PayPal is doing this. And I feel that is completely unfair and unreasonable.

As PayPal is the only method I can use right now, not using them means I am out of business. But I have to ask if I am able to continue in business using PayPal in this limited manner.

If they are contacting my customers to ensure that their purchase was okay, what if they then say it wasn't?
And what kind of impression does that give my customers?
If they hope they can get a refund, and tell PP that something was wrong, PP won't release the money right?
So I'm stuck having paid for the stock, the person gets a refund and PP keeps their chunk of my profit in fees.
I can't accept returns on most stock because of the nature of the business!

I've emailed PP to tell them they are being unreasonable, vindictive even, damaging to business.

No doubt they'll send me some BS response about "security measures" and trying to make it sound like it'll benefit me too.

Seriously raging at PP right now.

Anyone else had this, and what did you do about it?

And, are there any other systems like PP that are more reliable, and better for business?

Strangely, I completed a survey they were conducting this afternoon, in which I was less than glowing about their services. It seems remarkable that within hours of completing this they restrict my business.

DO NOT COMPLETE ANY PP SURVEYS UNLESS YOU PLAN TO KISS THEIR ASS!

Note: Moneybookers does NOT accept merchants from the following industries:

    * Adult/erotic

As a retailer of Adult products, I believe this applies.
