I got more links, but still no ranking..

Some of the websites in my websites niche only have about 3000 links pointing to them, ive managed to get 7000 so far, but my website is still only about two or three months old :\ The websites on page one are 2+ years old. I am still not even listed for the keyword, so im thinking is it down to age? and is there any way to get infront of those older ones?

 

Maybe your keywords are hard. For example, "real estate" or "book".
Try with less competative keywords. Is your site indexed?

 

Sandbox -- Are you doing better in MSN?

 

Yeah my website is indexed, and it isn't that competitive, it has 9 million other results.

Is it possible to be sandboxed before you even get listed for the term? On msn im on page 2...

Yeah i am indexed... and do get results for that command...

 

majority of pages?
no supplemental results?
do these 7000 links use the right anchors?

it could also be just the matter of time. with only 2 months old site, the results have to settle down and it takes couple of weeks.

 

Do you see some backlinks in a Google? Or only in other SE.

 

i'd bet my money that this is the main cause.

 

Google shows no backlinks, although Yahoo! shows 6000 odd. Maybe the site is still too young, but im not even top 1000000

 

With a very new site, of course your site will be PR 0. Wait at least 1 or 2 months for the long awaited Google PR update. (Next update is predicted in October 2006) You will have a new PR for your site.

Next, you'll have to see what keywords you want to target. Lets say 'Tiny Blue Widgets' . You should search this term on Google and see whats the PR of the websites coming on page 1 for this keyterm, and their backlinks on Google.

Also see results and Page Ranks of sites coming for other related keyphrases and terms that you want to rank high for.

If the high ranking sites are PR 4 , PR 5 and 6, you should aim to achieve that PR in the PR update after the coming one.

You should also see the number of backlinks for these high ranking sites on Google. An overall backlink figure of 3000 links and 7000 links is not much helpful. You have to see how many Google is showing.

Also, can you please explain how you managed to get 6000 links for your site in just 3 or 4 months.

 

Some of the websites on page one PR1-PR5, one wikipedia listing, a news item etc. Ages from 1998-2002.

And how i got the links is private information =)
