Hi all, I have registered for DMOZ editor to add my site to Computer\Peripherals (about printer tips and tricks). I have been waited for two weeks and last night I received email that my site url have been rejected with a lots of terms Anybody has succeeded to add site url? Please share your experiences!
It was a trick question... Seems he just tried to be an editor to add his site. They say that such a thing is bad, though, erm, that is what the place was founded on & something they STRONGLY] support. However, I'm not sure that was actually the reason... he also goes on to say something about being rejected for "lots of terms"...so I really don't know what that means. Maybe it was a matter of bad wording that got his application pushed off.
Hard to distinguish if he registered for a dmoz editor to add his site (simply submitted a site) or if he meant the applied as an editor. The latter is more likely if he had received a rejection notice. Maybe he can clear things up...
I agree that he was rejected as an editor. DMOZ does not send out either rejection or acceptance notices.
Obviously he applied for a DMOZ editor. I've tried several times in applying but to no avail. I also had a DMOZ listing but it was removed without any advice. =(
why every subpage of topix is listed in dmoz? topix is just scraps data from other sites, such sites should be banned from dmoz
Topix is owned by a top ranking editor of the ODP, that is the ONLY reason it has nearly 20k listings that break multiple rules. But gods forbid YOU submit something with original content that can't get listed *rolls eyes*
how shameless so much corruption in Broad daylight, they don't even try to hide it or make it a bit realistic these are 20k spam listings for a single site, I wonder how many more are out there now I understand that what keeps the editors so much "busy", adding hundreds of page of your site does take lots of patience and hard-work may be the editors can outsource it to data entry specialists at dp *rolls eyes*
No... those 20K listings were added by a BOT (in the worlds largest HUMAN edited directory). Just want to make sure your facts are straight
I admit my sites to DMOZ. A month later, I still can't find my site on DMOZ. But I have never received any letters telling me the rejections.
If you read the sticky at the top you will see that it can take from a few days to a few years for a review for a possible listing and secondly DMOZ do not send out any information about suggested sites after they are suggested. They are suggestions for editors to list, they are not submissions and we do not undertake to review them in good time.
You don't believe that? Here is the first email I have gotten after registered: After five hours, I got: But when I have read about TOS, I don't see anything about that. So as awinsjclarke said: We don't be died without DMOZ!
It will save a lot of confusion and further wasted effort if you change the thread title from DMOZ rejected my site! to DMOZ declined my application to become an editor
No. We don't beleive you! What you posted is the rejection email for being an editor; that is NOT a rejection for your site being listed. If you are that confused between "site" and "editor", then its probably a good thing DMOZ rejected you as an editor.
They're also confused about the time frame for the responses received, started off as two weeks and it's now down to five hours.
