HI,today, I received an email from PayPal, that I have registered my account as non-profit organisation or charity based organisation. When I logged into my account, I got this message: ============================================ PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with a secure service. Until we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features will be limited. We would like to restore your access as soon as possible, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Why is my account access limited? Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s): 04-Aug-2010: Your PayPal account is registered as a charity or non profit. We would like some more information from you to help us understand your organisation. How can I get my account access restored? It's usually pretty easy to take care of things like this. Most of the time, we just need a little more information about your account or latest transactions. To help us with this and to find out what you can and can't do with your account until the issue is resolved, go to the Resolution Centre. We'll review the information you provide and email you if we need more details or when your account is back to normal. Once you have completed all the checklist items, your case will be reviewed by one of our Account Specialists. We will send you an email with the outcome of the review. =============================================================== I do not remember, when my account was registered as non profit organisation. I registered my account with PayPal near about 2 years ago. It was working fine till date. I am not running any organisation, but I am making money selling ebooks etc. So, how can I overcome this problem? How can I upload the organisation documents etc. Please help! Thanks Regards
NO, I am not running any registered business, as I described in the thread. I am just selling ebooks and software.
But as paypal said in their email that your account is registered as non-profit organisation or charity based organisation so you need to call them and explain them everything. DON.
It is best to call Paypal and clear the misunderstanding. Express your total ignorance about your account being registered as charitable organisation and request them to restore the account holder status to that of a normal individual. Regards, RightMan
It's really a big problem for non-US to make a call to Paypal, due to calling cost and differents in language. It's hard to make them understanding our words.
Friends, I have uploaded some files stating that I am not running any Non Profit organisation. Hope they will understand and I will be able to enjoy full access. Please wish for me. Thanks
If you can type here in english, the same way you need to talk to them and explain. As simple as that. And use skype for their toll free number.
Ya, but as you know that there is a lot of different between writing and speaking. Also, I do not have any credit in my Skype, so can not call them. BTW, what is their toll free number?
You don't need credit in your skype accounts. Its toll free. Here you go - 1-888-215-5506 (Toll Free Number) 1-888-221-1161 (Toll Free Number) You just need an internet connection, PC, and headphone with mic. :d
well i did same mistake with my paypal as well, and only solution i got was to call them and explain them that i did this by mistake, and they reset the documentation process then thanks kind regards
I am unable to call using Skype at that number. Skype automatically prefix my country code +91 with the number and say 'Can not call this number'. How to use this number on Skype without country code? Thanks
Make a new skype account and put the info in that you are from america. Fool the software by telling it you are in america .. i dont think its complicated enough to check ip's. That should make it let you make the phone call . Mike
Hello Again, The best news is that, Today PayPal has restored my account to full access. It took 5 days in total from the day when my account was limited and it was restored. Although there is no need to tell why PayPal did that and what I did to restore it, but for the sake of other PayPal users I am going to tell you here the full story: I made a blog few days back and place a donation button on it as usually most of the people do, to cover the cost of website expenses etc. I got few donations on the same day. PayPal while overviewing my account checked that multiple donations and found the source of transactions and found that I have placed a donation button. They thought that I am running a charity based organisation and my account access was limited because PayPal wanted me to provide full information about working, registration, payment methods etc. about this organisation. They also asked me to upload utility bill etc. to show me the address proof of my organisation. A lot of people PMed me when I started this thread that they can make fake documents for me to upload. I took the way of honesty and uploaded a letter in my PayPal account to tell PayPal that the donation does not mean here the donation collected by the charity organisation, it is only to cover expenses of the website. I further told them that I do not own any organisation and can not provide you any information regarding that. Paypal understood the situation and asked me to change the wording on my website and change the donation button. I did the same and notified again PayPal about changes. PayPal asked me to refund all the donations to the donor and contact again. I refunded all donations collected and told PayPal about the update. Today, I got an email that my account has been restored. So, if you are using or planning to use a donation button on your website, then it is a live example for you, that you may be in trouble. Hope it helps! Thank you all for your help to resolve this case. Thanks
I am puzzled by Paypal's observation. They seem to suggest here that only a registered charitable organisation has the right to collect donation and a person giving away his skills for free... does not have the right to request donation! Regards, RightMan
