how do you get indexed in google? I have submitted my website to google already and added a sitemap to google but have yet to be indexed. it's been about weeks and still no show.
More important than a sitemap or submitting to Google is having a couple of backlinks from sites with decent PRs (3+). That will guarantee you a quicker indexing.
Did you try to search your domain name in google? However get indexed by google is simple, the essential is to get high ranking in google.
My experience shows that for new sites getting indexed by google is getting much much harder every day (not a home page or couple of pages indexed, getting most of the pages indexed). But try to get some good backlinks, submit to directories, and use article submissions, even get a Press Release out if you can, then you'll be safe with a good start. good luck
gaining quality backlinks is secret for better indexing. though you can be indexed with forum sig (homepage mostly and only)
just like everyone, get some good back links, and make navigation easy for bots on your site, also work on SEO if you can.. I started a new url once and was fully spidered and hitting some keywords in less then 2 weeks.. I managed it in 2 days! By chance of course. And it was very strange for me that time, as I had no backlinks. I just uploaded and configured my interface and posted the first article. In about 1 week I checked the site:thatsite.com Google´s command (expecting no results as it was just too short time) and... it was there, with cached date first article upload + 2 days. No mention in Yahoo or MSN, no backlinks at all (in fact I just started to bother the directories), but it was listed in Google. What i think made it was the "blog and ping" service. Probably, one of the blog search engines I pinged with the very first article was visited by Google´s spider at the very same time and it was able to grab the link to my site. These blog+ping services usually have a page listing the recent 100 (more or less) pings; also with links to the respective sites. As millions of bloggers use these services, it´s just 5 seconds of fame for everyone. And I seem to be lucky enough to have Google´s bot crawling that one page in my 5 seconds...
My personal Website need 1 Month to get Indexed and need 4 months to get Pr1. Now I understand that Links is a King, more quality Link make my site rank better on SE

I was refering to my AreYouRated.com website. It isn't indexed in google but is indexed (parts of it) in Yahoo and MSN.
True! Few links here and there and wait. Google automatically pick you up. No need to submit your site to various SE's to get indexted. If you are using a Robots file, the Use wild card initially, say for example: User-agent: * Disallow: /cgi-bin/ User-agent: * Disallow: /_private/ Thats it!!
Vizuke, it looks (in terms of site design) better than before - i think you changed the template lately, didn´t you? Go for myspace with this type of site. Form a group and participate in others. Get friends and in 1 year you will need to change ISP as your traffic will break their servers down...
