Yes, it's possible - I haven't done it yet... People are legitimately making that in internet marketing. In my opinion, the reputation and influence is very necessary for people to feel comfortable buying what you're selling. I think the exception is ECommerce, where you can make a lot of money just by having a good site, and knowing enough SEO to rank for your chosen keywords.

As I said, the million dollar homepage actually offered its customers something.

Anyone could try to sell anything for a million dollars (a painting, their virginity, a piece of toast that looks like Jesus, etc) but the chances of it happening are very remote. You have a better chance of becoming a millionaire by purchasing a lottery ticket than you do by trying to sell this stupid piece of art.

To me nothing is impossible. But I will say you possibility of selling your painting for 1M is less than 1%.

On another note, one quote everyone should live by is "Don't give a damn what people think". Oneyearauction you have the gift to think big and take action, that sets you apart from many people in this world(like dlm), any piece of art is worth what people are willing to pay for it because "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". You obviously have the passion so go by your gut and do what feels right, I hope you achieve your goal just to shut these assholes up.
